It's owned by the club and will be worth money as a development opportunity in the city centre. Ashley wants to keep it.

He's already had planning permission granted for it.
Ashley sold the land from the club to himself.

Surely that applies to everyone/anyone. Why not go to a team where he’ll get the proper backing and tight players then?
For various reasons you can immediately disregard
Arsenal
Chelsea
Everton
Liverpool
Man City
Man Utd
Tottenham

He wants a big English club with the potential to be a top half team in the Premier League with Europe and Silverware in their targets. He wants to stay close to his family.

Which clubs meet all of those?
Us, Leicester maybe... now I'm struggling.

Ah, forgive me. Missed that.

The other two did nothing to stand up to Ashley, and in fact Pardew piped him off as often as possible. Benitez is often publicly raising concerns about the lack of investment, cautiously and pointedly straight batting questions. Questions the other two would have used to defend Ashley.
It’s massively unprofessional and with the sole intention of excusing his own short comings.

Is it? "massively unprofessional"?
Isn't it the understandable actions of someone who's been repeatedly lied to, one who feels a responsibility as the custodian of the football team?

Are you sure the club actually own it and how much is this land worth?

This is a significant part of your argument so I'm sure you have all the facts right.

Also, what do you believe the 'staying up bonus' might be, just your opinion.

He's already had plans to build a hotel and casino there

The mags on this thread man, abacus and calculators all ower, a f***ing car crash of school boy maths.

That nasty man Mike, he's only stopped us from going backrupt and got a few million in free adverts in return for spunking £300M in a black hole...
Exactly, howay the Arabs!

They owned the 100 year lease on the land above the metro station. That came with the purchase of the club. Newcastle sold the lease to Mike Ashley, and when it was raised in a fan forum meeting about Ashley's plans to develop it, they were rebuffed with it not being a club matter.
Not sure how much it is worth, but once he puts his flats and offices on there it'll be worth a canny bit

I was wrong, Ashley apparently sold it to himself from the club.

Just my opinion, but I'd not be surprised if it was in the tens of millions.
