Mike Ashley isn't stupid, maintaining the status quo is clearly his tactic, hence why the massive release fee clause is installed on his contract. On the other hand, if Rafa is sacked then there would be an uprising against the club, despite that his successor might even have them doing better than they are.

They believe all the hype written by Ryder Bird and Edwards as gospel man, they cannot think for themselves. When will one of them realise the emperor has no clothes on?
