Despite your relegation and the significant role Benitez played in that, Ashley backed him in the summer including you signing a club record fee goalkeeper. That was despite you already having a couple of perfectly suitable championship level keepers - Benitez then didn't even play him.

The following summer having got you promoted - he backed him in the transfer market including allowing him to spend £12m+ on Murphy from Norwich because that's what he wanted - again Benitez then didn't play him either.

Now with a year left on his deal, it's totally reasonable that Ashley is wanting some sort of commitment from Benitez before sanctioning further investment.

You lot have just finished mid table in the premier league which for a club like Newcastle is success yet still you bitch on and start hoying banners up all over the place as if you’re hard done by!
Pardew had you mid table, this after finishing 5th, 16th plus a uefa Cup 1/4 and even that wasn’t good enough!
You hounded Allarydyce despite him being higher than you finished previous season when sacked. This because he wasn’t playing the style of football you had become accustomed to (whatever that is).

You are wrong, Murphy chipped in with some vital goals. Our keeper situation well, ok you can't win them all.
You need a big squad to get out of the Championship, and Rafas (Mr Benitez, just before you say the inevitable) no 1 priority was to get out of the Championship. He decided to cover all bases, he bought players for each position covering for injuries etc. It cost a lot but it would have cost a lot more had we not gone up. He bought a squad TO WIN THE CHAMPIONSHIP (or at least get promoted). The Jan window was supposed to be his opportunity to plan for the Premier league, Mr Ashley had promised him funds would be available, as we know, none such funds were provided.

The squad bought for the Championship campaign was just that, for the Championship campaign. You can argue this was a bad strategy if you want, but I would argue 50mil well spent, look at you, look at Villa.

I like to add a little perspective to a discussion. For all the mags are the kings of the deluded (West Ham and unfortunately Everton are now running them close) it would be disingenuous to try and make out we don’t have our fair share of buffoons as well.
Both Peter Reid and Steve Bruce claimed our fans expect us to be winning the league. Blame them for that comment not me.

There is not a set of fans any different to the next.. We all are exactly the same, morons among us, plastics among us, die hards, wanna be's, deluded, realists, pessimists. There is a wide spectrum and each football clubs fan base will hold them all

Can you not find something positive to say about our fans? I don't know if Reid or Cushion face did say that but if they did, only a feckwit would believe they meant it.

I’d say there are a few more examples of fuckwittery amongst your lot than most mind.
I don’t recall too many other clubs holding Mock funerals and driving round with Pardew.out vans etc ;)

There is also another category, pro active. I would agree that we certainly have a lot more of these than your club, for every bed sheet waver, we get the planned flags display. So I will take that.. We don't struggle to organise people holding a banner up in the ground, and almost come to fisty cuffs over the banner. These pro active people don't sit and sulk on the internet complaining yet do nothing about it. Call it fuckwittery if you wish, but I would rather have this category of supporter among us than the people who are not willing try and force a change.

We dont protest at where we finish

We dont expect to be top 6

We dont even expect to win anything

But we expect our club as paying loyal fans to have a f***ing go and do their best.

You fall into the trap that some tools made up about us expecting Europe every season etc etc , but what we do expect is that the owner and people running our club do the very best to try and be the best , isnt that what we all want?

We havent exactly been flush with f***ing trophies?
