His game requires time on the ball, which he would get at international level. However he also needs good running and movement ahead of him, which we don't have much of. Also he likes to go back to front, usually with long passes to someone running in behind and at international level teams sit deeper so you never really see it often.

Conclusion is he would be a pointless addition.
You've come to the right conclusion but your working out was wrong.

how do

How does Alli get in the side? Linguard surely? no comparison between the two this season
Alli has 12 in 43 and Lingard has 13 in 41. Quite the comparison to be had.

Well could you imagine Klopp/Mourinho/Tuchel stopping around in those circumstances or more to the point not having any of the better sides not just in the PL but Europe/China sniffing around?

Everton, Leicister, Crystal Palace, Southampton and Stoke all looked elswhere this season amongst many top clubs in Europe.

As far as im aware he's had no concrete interest despite his CV and past achievements which alludes to my point that whilst he's still a decent manager football seems to have passed him by among others.

Benitez was unemployed, unlike Klopp, Mourinho, Tuchel. He may have had offers from China or Europe, but has stated on several occasions that he wanted to stay in England. All the top clubs in the Premier League had incumbent managers at the time. By the time Everton, Leicester, Crystal Palace, Southampton and Stoke were looking for managers Benitez was already seeing the side he brought up do well enough in the league, so why would he want to leave?

We're currently sitting 10th and while there are rumours of at least one Spanish side being interested in his services, I can't see which (non-Elite) Premier League club he'd trade us for. He wouldn't join Everton because his history at your rivals, West Ham are a calamity, Stoke and Southampton may well go down...

When you start using his criteria to narrow down the clubs he'd manage and the criteria of elite clubs to narrow down who they'd employ, it's a pretty small pool. And like it or not, we're a big fish in that small pool.

He's derided on here but Benitez is clearly a very good coach, one who is getting results with a bang average side in the Premier League. That being the case I don't think football has left him behind at all.

The two biggest jobs he's had, Real Madrid and Inter, he was sacked within 6 months of both.

That doesn't happen to 'world class' managers
Both clubs there renowned for stability and long termism.

Having said that we signed Papy and Didier for £8m and £18m respectively.

Murphy has shown glimpses of how good he can be, once we are mathematically safe I expect we'll see alot more of him. It's always strange how fans write young players off without actually seeing much of them, same goes for Merino.

Tough one, as he might have a use against the poorer sides where they have 11 behind the ball, in terms of a killer pass. However, he doesn’t have a complete enough game for me when faced with better opposition. He’s not athletic enough or diciplined defensively.

Should probably have been given a chance at some point but the squad is looking capable without him so at this stage I’d stick rather than twist.

He took over Mourinho's treble winning team and fucked it up in half a season

Were there any other factors involved or is that the entire story? And does that 6 month spell define his career? Just like Pardew is apparently a great coach because, despite being utter turd for most of his managerial career, taking clubs on record breaking winless runs, he once was in charge of a Newcastle side that finished 5th and should be defined by that and only that...

Pitiful.

Didn’t Rafa do that with your home form this season?

Carver holds that dubious honour. Pardew has plenty of other embarrassing records, at a few clubs.

But, because Newcastle fans don't rate him, some Sunderland fans spent a great deal of time trying to suggest he was in fact a good coach, it was just Newcastle United that was the problem. Palace and West Brom fans may have a thing to say about that. What's his Premier League record at WBA?

Good coaching, that.

Because Benitez is rated by Newcastle fans, some Sunderland fans have spent a great deal of time trying to suggest he's not, in fact, a good coach.

It's all a bit silly.

Newcastle only lost Man City twice and Liverpool once since Boxing Day. 7th best defence in the league. Think that's down to decent coaching and tactics. He's doing quite a good job. 3 points off Everton in 9th place with a better goal difference. If we can beat Arsenal this weekend and Everton lose away to Swansea (unlikely pair of results I I know) we'd be above Everton with a game against Everton up next

Good manager, done a good job.
Never known a set a supporters be so defensive of a manager before mind, borderline obsessive with their defence of him.

If you get £80 million to spend on players in the championship it does make it easier.

Aye fair comment, I don't suppose many mags are bothered about his record at other clubs. If you think he's doing a good job now why give a fuck about his past.
