New Stadium Measures

It's not about taking notice. You now can't access the Roker End without a ticket there
They will have to stop fans going round the back of the stand to do this.
You can walk from the North East corner right round to the South Stand no bother.

So, more stewards in the North Stand and more training for them - Is that it?
How many stewards were there in the North Stand for the Coventry match?
How many more will there be tomorrow?
So Steve, are we talking 20 extra stewards or just 2?

If "the safety of all fans remains an absolute priority" then perhaps Mr Davison will commit to sitting in the North Stand until the issue has been completely resolved?
How about it Steve?

Again, which group or individual is responsible for this announcement?
Why is there no ownership of the issue or of the communication with the fans.
The clubs entire response shows a complete lack of regard for our fan base.
Sort it out Steve!

You can always catch a later bus!

This includes securing the Roker End and its related turnstiles, concourses and walkways, which will now only be accessible to fans with a season card or ticket in the Roker End.

Sounds like you won't be able to completely walk around the stadium as you could before

Its a bit reactive, the steward wouldnt have stopped a bottle being thrown, they may have caught the perpetrator, but by that time someone could be seriously injured

Not having a go at you by the way
Yeah everything we do is retrospective. They've known of the issues with the North Upper for a few years now and there's been instances right throughout that time of missiles being thrown down. Just think in everything we do it could be quicker and more decisive across the while range of our off field activities.

By walking out of the ground and all the way round to RE?

My memory is hazy but I was in clockstand paddock and was pretty sure I couldn't get to any other stand though we did sometimes go to roker end side of clockstand (hence my username as I cant ever remember Aiston kicking any other way).
Loads of work to make sure South folk are only allowed in it. North stand you have to bring hard hats to the game.

Basically being hit on the head with glass bottles is fine but moving out the way isn't allowed.

As someone who has elsewhere on here been massively critical of the way the ticket office and club shop has been ran of late, I honestly don't believe there is much more they could have done in less than 2 weeks in regards to the measures they have taken with regards to the north and south stands.

- South Stand; simple way to stop overcrowding, you only can gain access with a ticket for a seat there....it surely will solve the issue IF they have actually sealed off walkways and turnstiles there only accept tickets for seats in south stand blocks....don't see why an issue?

- Away fans; as awful as the situation is I don't see what more they are supposed to do/or rather have done since the Cov game....installing a net will require lead in times for the contractor(s) to order, deliver and install it (we are talking a net to take into account the entire width of the stand and which will have to be installed via many fixing points which will have to be carefully considered and installed), not to mention health and safety inspections to be passed by whichever body is responsible for signing off safety changes to sports stadia. People think the whole process can be done in a day but trust me from someone who has worked in construction, procurement and project management for years, it can't. If it was done in a few days I'd question it tbf.

Having said that, putting the away fans up there years ago WAS a mistake. However, I believe the issues will get sorted, they'll just take a bit longer than many are expecting.

*Tin hat welded on
Good points mate. Do you know where they intend to house the away supporters next? Can only see the NE corner as a viable option if its in the lower bowl. Get the net up and leave them where they are for me.

Definitely not in the seating areas, which is a pity for those who want to have a bit yap with friends or family before the match.
I was talking about the part where no one is allowed, but the young uns found it and those who want to sneak round to the South Stand. I don't think I have ever saw a steward up there.
Maybe the club will wise up to it one day.

Not sure what you mean here, sorry

Apart from the bit where it very very very clearly says “the SGSA has now formally written to the Club to state that this has been classed a top priority and action must be taken to address the concerns outlined above” and hence not the club

That’s literally not what’s being said on any level. For starters, one is a more regular occurrence than the other and has been highlighted by the SGSA as in need of action. Aka it’s a big risk of an accident. Can guarantee if a bad accident happened you’d be complaining that nothing had been done about it, so we’re taking action. Secondly, as for the North Stand issue, what can we feasibly do in two weeks, other than what’s being done.
Probably should've made it clear that the SGSA should be writing to the club about the away fans chucking stuff and telling them prioritise that.

The steward was useless in the south stand I’m the back row and had to tell youngins to fuck off before kick off and then after half time I get ya wanna stand with ya mates etx but cram their seats up not others

The stewards are useless too one actually stood on the steps at the back of U37 and gave up moving people after 5 minutes he had no clue what he was doing

My 2 pence worth, as someone who has been involved in the consultation process for this.

1) RE changes have been in the pipeline since we first met with the club about 2 months ago. We were informed of the SGSA/SAG issues. Most of the problems in the RE will be solved by preventing migration. It causes overcrowding, which makes it easier for people to set of pyro, causes standing on the stairs and squashing on the concourse. We also want to create a proper atmosphere end. We want people who want to create an atmosphere to be in there, but similarly you can’t be there unless your ticket is for there.

2) they were supposed to be in place for Coventry, but given the risk of big queues, the club took the decision to withhold the changes till this weekend.

3) these changes were coming irrespective of the continued in the north stand. They aren’t coming in to make things worse for our fans. Quite the opposite. Literally the only people who will be disadvantaged by closing it off is people who want to be in there that aren’t meant to be.

4) The club have issued a statement on both issues at once, which in my opinion was a mistake. It’s made people think the 2 things are related. They aren’t. What’s happening in the RE is completely separate from the NS. The RE changes need to happen to satisfy SGSA, improve supporter experience & prevent migration.

5) the NS issue needs solved. I personally can’t believe it’s not been fixed before tomorrow. People are rightly angry and pissed off. Please direct your anger to those at the very top of the club. It’s not Steve Neil or any other of the security/safety team to blame. He’d have it put in tonight if he could, in my opinion.
