New Music Releases Thread

Really enjoying Margo Price on first listen. She’s gone back to country music after 2 albums of trying to be Stevie Nicks.

“All the cocaine in existence couldn’t keep your nose out of my business” on “Don’t Let the Bastards Get You Down” is an excellent line (pun intended)

Alabama Shakes have released their first song in 10 years.

Erykah Badu was meant to be releasing her first album in 15 years today but apparently she went on Instagram live last night and said that The Alchemist has delayed it.

Enjoyed The Hives' album again. Always enjoy them.

I didn't really like Blood Orange on first listen but I'll give it more listens as it has been getting praised everywhere.

CMAT was pretty decent too. I'll give this more listens.

Margo Price isn't for me but I did enjoy that Don't Let The Bastards Get You Down song.

Prolapse album is a very good return. Also enjoyed Modern Nature (on at Pop Recs 1st Oct). Struggled to make it through Jehnny Beth's album and I quite liked her first solo album.

There are new albums on Friday from Big Thief, Boy Commandos, Brian Dunne, Cut Copy, David Byrne, El Michels Affair, Glenn Hughes, Ivy, La Dispute, Lucrecia Dalt, Max Richter, Rob Thomas, Saint Etienne, SG Lewis, Shame, Suede, Titanic, Pickle Darling, the compilation Eccentric Spiritual Soul, the compilation Les Disques Bongo Joe, the compilation I WIll Swim to You: A Tribute to Jason Molina, SunYears, Gwenifer Raymond, Grant-Lee Phillips, Junior Brother, Curtis Harding, Shrunken Elvis and Hot Chip (a best of comp).

Newcastle band Spraydog return today after 17 years away with a new album and line up.
They play Sea Change South Shields on 5th October with Nev Clay and Oldman. Only 3 quid on the door.
Paul Duffy of The Coral has put out an 8 bit version (these sound like an old computer game soundtrack) of the debut album by The Coral. Probably a listen once or not at all album for most but fans of the band may enjoy it.

Just been on Radcliffe & Maconie. Actually quite an interesting couple of versions, although unlikely I'd listen to them repeatedly. Cool idea all the same.

I can remember some unofficial 8-bit videos appearing on youtube a few years back. I listened to some Radiohead and New Order done like that, but I've never returned to it.

Very impressed by La Dispute, who are a new name to me. Remind me of At The Drive In.

Big Thief very good, Saint Etienne a nice farewell, Shame angry, Suede post-punk/goth, David Byrne wonky, Hot Chip best of, Lucrecia Dalt really impressive.
They’re a superb band. I’d recommend going through their old stuff. My friend put me onto them and we went to see them in Birmingham and they are outstanding live.

Big Thief predictably excellent and getting good write ups everywhere else. Max Richter I’m saving for my Sunday cooking tomorrow (as he has soundtracked most of that through my life)

Wednesday being the new Thursday there are new albums released on Friday by Benefits, Brian D'Addario, Davido, Greentea Peng, Japanese Breakfast, Lola Kirke, Lonnie Holley, My Morning Jacket, Phil Cook, Selena Gomez & Benny Blanco, The Horrors, Young Widows, Annie and the Caldwells, Peter Harris: Fritz Catlin: Lee 'Scratch' Perry, Jeffrey Lewis, Will Stratton and Barry Hyde.
Playing catch-up for this year, had a bad one for listening to new stuff. Japanese Breakfast is Sunday morning listening tastic. Nothing to do with having breakfast in the name either...
