New Music Releases Thread

A touch biased but it’s gonna have to be something pretty special to beat that Clipse album this year. Best Hip Hop project of the 2020’s so far I think.

Stevie Wonder casually playing keys and doing the outro on the song. They didn’t even bother to tell anyone it was him until a couple days after the album came out.

Listened to Alex G. I just don't get the fuss.
He's great. The new one is really strong based on a couple of listens this morning. Might pop out to buy it today.

BC Camplight is getting good reviews. I struggle with him a bit but this is the first record he's put out for about a decade that I've not turned off midway. The track with the lass from The Last Dinner Party is very good.

Thought the Wet Leg record was pretty good. Not sure I'll return to it much but there's 3/4 great tracks on there. The rest is a bit indie by numbers.

I love Allo Darlin as well but not sure we needed this record. Meh.

In other news it seems that Saul and Lias have buried the hatchet and played a gig together the other night, mainly tracks from the Fat White Family debut. Fingers crossed they don't try to kill each other and we get a new FWF record with Saul.

I’ll give it some more listens then.

I agree about Wet Leg. Surprised at it TBH .
There is a new Tyler, The Creator album this morning called Don't Tap The Glass. I really liked Chromakopia that only came out in October.

We have quite a few new releases this week with albums from Alice Cooper, Freddie Gibbs & The Alchemist, Indigo de Souza, Irvine Welsh & the Sci-Fi Soul Otchestra, Madonna, Michael Clifford, Night Moves, Patty Griffin, Paul Weller (covers), Post Animal, The Band Camino, The Dirty Nil, Tyler Childers, Cory Hanson, Ben Nichols, Made Kuti, Dot Allison (remixes), Nick Drake (The Making of Five Leaves Left box set), Pete Astor (home recordings), Luke Haines & Peter Buck, Far Caspian, Ryan Davis & the Roadhouse Band, Golomb, Folk Bitch Trio and Fever Ray.

The K's new album 'Pretty On The Internet' (out today) is absolutely outstanding. Their first album was phenomenal and this is right up there too. In that genre of music I don't think there's anyone out there now who are doing it better than them. Really good listen if you get chance.

I’ve really been enjoying The Royston Clubs singles ahead of their new Album ‘Songs For The Spine’ that’s being released August 8th.

Cariad is a superb song.

Had a good few plays of the Corey Hanson album really like that.

Kurt Vile EP is worth a listen, nothing new mind just doing what he does, works for me.

Alex G, aye it’s good will probably make my top 10 for the year. It’s not as good as his god save the animals album though.

I believe The Armed have a new album out tomorrow too.

Possibly Hayley Williams from Paramore too. She released 17 songs on her website on Monday, which was made to resemble an early 00's kinda thing, and took them down yesterday. Expecting it out soon and it's pretty good.

The Alex G one drops off quite badly in the second half, sadly. I like it but it isn't as good as I'd first thought.
Trash Mountain by Lily Seabird remains right up there as one of my very favourite albums of the year so far

Enjoying this, thanks for sharing.

Give that Folk Bitch Trio record a go. Ignore the terrible name, it's very good.

Solu Music have released a collaboration album with Gabby Law - 15 years since their last one, had a few tracks on earlier gonna listen to it in full when I go to the gym tonight. From what I’ve heard so far it’s very good

Durham based band Fortitude Valley have a new album out tomorrow. Anyone who enjoys Martha will probably enjoy them as they share some band members.
Daniel Blumberg's excellent soundtrack for The Brutalist finally gets a physical release too. Been available digitally since last year.
