New Music Releases Thread

There are bits that are special. But the song with recorders I was convinced they were taking the piss

There was a lad in the front row that I thought was Isaac but could well be wrong
Haha! A mate saw them support Nick Cave and word for word said the same thing about that song.

After being bored to death by the live album I've somehow found myself quite looking forward to this new one. I don't really see them as BCNR anymore, which I think has helped manage my own expectations. It's an entirely different band these days and Isaac isn't coming back.

Been to see BC,NR tonight. Georgia is wonderful, what a voice, and the there are moments of brilliance. But it’s ultimately very flat. That album with Isaac was insanely good but this is a bit meh
I wandered off in vague disinterest when they played Green Man last year.

Anyway, back to the good stuff, Sacred Paws, Perfume Genius, Dean Wareham, CocoRosie, Snapped Ankles, Destroyer and Somebody’s Child albums are all excellent. Butler, Blake and Grant good as well. Lucy Dacus okay but a tad disappointed by Spellling.

Agreed about Perfume Genius, I think it's really good. Thought Dacus was quite boring which is a shame as the debut was excellent.

I must have missed this a couple of weeks back, but just noticed that Saul Adamczewski (former Fat White Family) has a new record out called The Coward. Think it might be a bit avant garde..

Jungle by Somebody's Child is my favourite track of recent years. Having heard their other stuff I wasn't gripped despite previously thinking I'd discovered my new favourite band.

I probably posted similar when I saw them support Cave too

Finally got around to the Barry Hyde album earlier on today. I'm not sure that man gets anywhere near the recognition he deserves as a songwriter. His two solo albums are beautiful. Always liked Futureheads but never been the biggest fan in the world. Revisited Rant as well not too long ago for the first time in ages before I saw Futureheads last month and found I enjoyed it a lot more than I did initially.

Think Barry falls into that category with Gaz Coombes and Bill Ryder-Jones where I enjoy their solo work quite a bit more than the music from the bands they're in.

Love the Snapped Ankles album. For an old fart like me it's refreshing to have an album filled with bangers. Most new bands stuff seems to be padded out apart from a few decent tracks. Very powerful.

Perfume Genius is excellent and I just nabbed tickets this morning to see him in November, looking forward to that very much, he puts on a great live show. Butler Blake and Grant is predictably delightful!

On a side note, I saw Sprints on Saturday night, was a last minute thing. They were really excellent. They played their forthcoming second album from start to finish which I normally find incredibly self indulgent but it was very very good. She is an amazing front woman.

Had this song on my Release Radar on Spotify last week and been really enjoying it.

Clearly from a very small band, with it only having 4 YouTube views in 2 weeks.

Keep meaning to get a copy of his new album. Would you recommend it then?
