New Music Releases Thread

I hadn’t realised there was a new Mike Campbell record out, I’ll need to check it out!
Unrelated, but the other Mike Campbell (Mr L Stevenson) has a new band, Sweet Harm. They just started playing around the (our) NE a few months back and are touring this summer with Marissa P of Screaming Females. Might try and get along to check them out. They put a song up on Bandcamp a couple of months ago

There are new releases tomorrow from Camila Cabello, G-Eazy, Guided By Voices, Hiatus Kaiyote, Homeshake, Imagine Dragons, Johnny Cash, Jxdn, Lil Yachty & James Blake, Loma, Megan Thee Stallion, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, Omar Apollo, Previous Industries, Redd Kross, Wilco (an EP), SML, Mabe Fratti, Madeleine Peyroux, Stephen Pastel & Gavin Thompson, Aaron Frazer, Dirty Three and Folk Implosion.

GBV, Wilco, Mabe Fratte and Johnny Cash

I'm getting later and later with the weekly review, on this occasion largely because I forgot. Anyway, this week incliudes my opinions on new stuff, some things recommended above and at leasdt one album I didn't know had been released until Uncut's editor included it in his best of the year so far list (although Uncut haven't yet reviewed it):

Johnny Cash: songs/demos he was recording toward the end of his life. A couple have appeared elsewhere. Very impressive!
Wilco: EP obviously. Very good, 6 songs 18 minutes, great songcraft as always.
Neil Young & Crazyhorse: Early Daze is the title because it is that. Their earliest fledgling recordings. Some songs heard elsewhere, some great, some not.
SUSS: they're basically the kings of ambient americana. This is excellent.
SML:
energeyic new jazz from a bit of a supergroup. Very good!
Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats: a good, solid album as always. Some tracks are excellent.
Loma: lovely, lovely, lovely. Also, lovely.
Mabe Fratti: she's basically invented cellotronica. An excveptional talent.
Madeleine Peyroux: she's known as a jazz vocalist but steps beyond that here into Americana and wonky, interesting pop. Very, very good.
Guided By Voices: 8/10 as always. Indie rock, songs not as short as they once were. Very good.
Aaron Frazer: modern soul, exceptionally well done.
Dirty Three: abstract violin led post-rock. Might not be the easiest intro to them as some of it is quite discordant but very good.
The Folk Implosion: very good,lo-fi indie rock/pop. Glad they're back.
Carol Hodge: I thought I'd give her most recent album a listen as @Mickdundee raved about her. Not sure it's my thing. Big production and some vaguely showtune/musical qualities. Kind of reminds me of the mythical Jim Steinman produced Elaine Paige album.
Bored At My Grandmas House: as recommended by @chunkyshanhawk53. Decent. Occupies the interface between indiepop and emo.
Fraulein: as also recommended by @chunkyshanhawk53. Nu-grunge. Flies along at a pace. Very good.
The Felice Brothers: one of my favourite bands. This is, as ever, very good. Not their best but very good.
Bonnie "Prince" Billy, Nathan Salsburg & Tyler Trotter: why didn't I know this had come out? Two very long tracks wth BPB on vocals, the excellent Salsburg on guitar and Trotter doing electronic stuff. Magnificent!

AotW: Loma win the weekly battle but BPB, Nathan and Tyler may win the war. Johnny Cash, Mabe Fratti and Madeleine Peyroux all tremendous and 4 or 5 others just behind.
No reviews from @Arkle ?

That’s appalling that

I got overly stimulated by Turkey-Austria last night.

There are new releases tomorrow from Fink. Kasabian, Kiasmos and Kokoko!. Pretty much nothing. Lots next week.

Kiasmos are alright I think?

My very, very brief review of this week's new releases:

Melenas: fine as far as remix EPs go, not sure a lot gets added to the original songs really.
Kiasmos: a chilled out mix of electronics and orchestration. Pretty good but not really essential.
Kokoko!: second album from the DRC based electronic collective. Bloody brilliant TBH. Real energy, chanted vocals, can see them being ace live.

AotW: Kokoko! by a mile.

There are new albums tomorrow from Carly Pearce, Cola, Feet, Isobel Campbell, John Cale, John Grant, Kneecap, Luke Combsa,Meghan Trainor, Moby, Normani, RJD2, The Decemberists, Walt Disco, Zsela, Sam Morton, Mono, Crumb, Amanda Bergman, Marcel Wave and Hermanos Gutierrez.

New album Sonido Cosmico is brilliant mind. I'm away at the time but would have made every effort to get to their Manchester Gig in August
