Thurston Moore released an album early last month called Screen Time. Completely missed it at the time. I'm just two songs in and I don't think there's going to be any vocals, but it may still be of interest to the hardcore Sonic Youth fans.
Similarly I only recently found out Kim Gordon put out a vinyl album with Loren Connors last year called At Issue. Both are now on Spotify.

My new listening from the last few days:
Maya Shenfeld: electronica, pretty good, she's a composer so sort of neo-classical.
Rosalie Cunningham: her second album. It's sort of proggy, sort of glam rock. Very good!
Park Jiha: Korean classical folk/post-rock as usual. Enjoyable.
Gang of Youths: quite long, might need a listen or two but I think it's a good album.
Melt Yourself Down: business as usual. Jazz/world/dance fusion with sort of yelped vocals. Excellent!
The Volunteered: kind of old school indie type album from a solo projecy turned full band. Well worth a listen or three as it's very good.
Basia Bulat: a sort of best of as it's her songs from previous releases redone with string arrangement. Intriguing.
Caroline: I'm enjoying this. Kind of woozy and hippyish. Some songs are familiar.
Keeley Forsyth: stark, sort of folkish. Good album.
Duquette Johnston: a veteran American indie rocker now solo. This is enjoyable.
Johnny Marr: it's Marr so the guitar is great, the vocals are soso and the songs are very good.
Roedelius and Tim Story: ambient, neo-classical, piano and electronics. Great!
Sasami: American indie rocker, some tracks shouty, some more mellow. Pretty good.
Tears for Fears: their first in a good while. Not a patch on The Hurting. I prefer the Curt Smith tracks to the Roland Orzabal ones.
Holodrum: post-punk-funk with disco beats and hooks galore. This is terrific!
Carson McHone: female Americana singer-songwriter. Great voice, good album.
Superchunk: indie rock supervets with several guests. Pleasant.
Binker & Moses: Binker Golding and Moses Boyd do free jazz. Both quality performers. This is very good.
Bird in the Belly: folk with occasional poppy elements. Enjoyable. They're tipped by folkie types.
Half Man Half Biscuit: I'm biased as I love them. This won't convert the haters at all but is brilliant as always.
Marc O: French sort of glam rockish, Bowieish pop. This was released last year but seems to be being pushed now thanks to a physical release. It's pretty much tremendous.
Album of the week: there are some very good ones. I love HMHB and the Marc O album is exceptional but I'm giving it to Holodrum.

There are new album releases tomorrow from Band of Horses, Guided by Voices, Nilufer Yanya, Peach Pit, Stereophonics, The Weather Station, Duncan Marquiss, Telefis, Cecile McLorin Salvant, Kaina and Wolfgang Flur.
I also cannot stop listening to this album.Love their guitar sound on 'on fye'.Very smiths-ish

Yeah had it on repeat all week too. Reminds me a lot of Diiv also. Very nostalgic but super guitar tones and the like. Will be keeping an eye on them.

I recommend the debut and the 2 songs Detlef Schrempf and No Ones Gonna Love You from the 2nd album.
What I've listened to over the weekend (a slightly less busy week than last week):
Duncan Marquiss: first solo album from the guitarist from The Phantom Band (who appear to be on hiatus). A bit motorik, a bit folk, all instrumental, recorded in his parents' garage. Very good indeed!
Thurston Moore: ten instrumental guitar pieces, kind of abstract. Interesting rather than excellent.
Wolfgang Flur: it's him from Kraftwerk with guests. Sounds a lot like a Kraftwerk album with extra vocals. Good throughout and at times quite brilliant, also quite funny.
Nilufer Yanya: a bit grungey, a bit poppy, strong songs. More streamlined than her debut.
Band of Horses: another album of their anthemic Americana. It's good fun and will no doubt sound great live.
Fralst - Swedish Christian Grooves 1969-1979: if you only listen to one compilation of Swedish Christian hippy rock this year, make it this one! It's extremely, extremely enjoyable from start to end.
The Weather Station: a companion piece to Ignorance with a very different vibe. Minimal instrumentation and no percussion allowing the songs to shine through. A contender for end of year lists (again)!
Guided By Voices: another album of indie rock. The songs are more even lengthed now, which is good. Worth a listen or two.
Telefis: Cathal Coughlan and Jackknife Lee come together for a loose concept album about TV. Coughlan's ballads abound but there are some more upbeat songs. A bit Talking Headsy at times. Very good!
Kaina: soulful, old school pop type thing. Good voice, good album.
CMAT: Irish Americana. This is really, really, really good. She's witty and the songs are really strong and she has a great voice. One to watch.
The Simps: listened to due to recommendations her. Interesting indiepop ttype stuff.Hasn't completely grabbed me.
Cecile McLorin Salvant: jazz with folk undertones. Nice Kate Bush cover version.
Sei Still: their second album. Spanish language surf rock, parts remind me of The Liminanas. Very good!
Album of the week: The Weather Station, although the CMAT album is properly good and both Duncan Marquiss, Wolfgang Flur and the Swedish god botherers are excellent also.

Their first two albums are excellent as is about half the third, unfortunately been a case of diminishing returns since then. Always great to see live though.
