Really enjoying the El Ten Eleven record

Apparat is also good. As is Happyness

Milk Float by Happyness is such a great track, but is it just me that is supremely irritated by that beeping!!

 Once you hear it it's quite hard to unhear it.

It will come as no surprise I'm really enjoyjng the Happyness record. Will go those others in your post a go later.

The Ghostpoet album is pretty tremendous.

Spent most of the afternoon listening to the first three Pole albums (cryptically named 1, 2 and 3). Electronica which most people seem to fit into the microgenre dubtronica (aka dub techno). They're all about 20 years old but sound like they were recorded yesterday.

A few recent favourites...

Nice return from the Strokes, really good.
John Moreland, LP5 is a grower, very good.
Happyness album has had 2 plays today, excellent stuff.

New singles from Big Thief, Protomartyr, both superb.
2nd single from Rose city band upcoming record is another cracking tune, high hopes for that one whenever it’s released.

My summation of the new and newish stuff I've listened to this week:

Mogwai: already mentioned. It's a might fine soundtrack album.
James Yorkston: standard odds and ends collection. Very good as it goes.
Pole: 3 albums of minimal dubtronica from years back. Sounds like it all could have been released in 2020.
William Tyler: soundtrack to the film First Cow. Instrumental vignettes mixed with film dialogue. Album's good, film's got good reviews.
Ghostpoet: I've posted about it already. Very, very good indeed.
Diet Cig: I think I'm in the too twee for me camp about this.
Bela Fleck & Toumani Diabate - a live double album from masters of the banjo and kora respectively. Excellent!
Austra: extremely lovely synthpop. Very, very good!
Car Seat Headrest: I like it bur not as much as previous albums. Doesn't really have the anthems of yore.
Damien Jurado: a fairly simple and short album of excellently written folky Americana.
Loor: the bloke who left Alt J at the height of their fame has returned and now he's making electronica. It's pretty good!
Bad History Month: listened to on the strength of @chunkylover53's recommendation. Very good! A bit like Yo La Tengo working with GSYBE!
Happyness: of their usual standard, which is very good.

Album of the week: probably Austra.

Seems very quick for a new Fontaines LP

i was just saying the same

i really liked them initially but the radio has been absolutely saturated with that first album. gonna be another 12 months of the same starting here. Their show at Brixton was very poor recently too, seemed utterly jaded.
