New Music Releases Thread

I like them personally, haven't really listened to it fully yet, but their EP and singles have been decent.

They seem okay, nothing brilliant. Blood sports was a good song. They played Pure last month (I think) but thought it would be dead and awkward so I didn't bother. Think they're playing the Cluny soon?

I'll give the album a go anyway.

Aye, start of october iirc

Two excellent new cds by Explosions in the Sky and Washed out. Highly recommended both.

BTW saw Nadine Shah supporting Ghostpoet and she was dreadfully dirgy. Maybe her album will be better but it seemed to be self indulgent twaddle. Shame as she's local.

I really like her album. Not seen her live.

Anyway, new and newish stuff I like

Pond "Hobo Rocket" - cracking psychedelic rock album from the Aussies.
Luke Haines "Rock and Roll Animals" - Mr Haines continues to plough his surreal furrow. An album about Gene Vincent, the cat, Nick Lowe, the badger, and Jimmy Pursey, the fox.
Grant Hart "The Argument" - the Husker Du man is back. Long album, twenty tracks, some sort of vague concept behind it and some cracking tunes!
Future Bible Heroes "Partygoing" - witty electropop from the Magnetic Fields side rpoject, which currently makes better albums than Magnetic Fields do.

I've not mentioned any of the stuff I posted on Harry's ultimate music thread...

No problem mate - bands are Dirtmusic, Field Report, Oblivians and Scott & Charlene's Wedding. In order, bluesy world music, indie-folk balladry, old fashioned rock and roll and Australian indie pop.

Have you heard Big Scary? Spotify recommended I try their debut and it's actually enjoyable and very diverse. They've got a new album out but it's not on Spotify yet.

Worth a listen anyway.

Really like this guy called Kavinsky's album. Was out earlier in 2013, just like Daft Punk really but its relatively funky fresh
