New Music Releases Thread

Two brilliant new records recently released. Snocaps album (it's Waxahatchee and her sister. Also, Choices, an EP by Sunderland's own House Proud - they are a great punk band you should check out.

Rock and roll is here again. On Friday, we have new albums from Armand Hammer & Alchemist, Danny Brown, Del Water Gap, Finger Eleven, Hatchie, Insecure Men, Mavis Staples, Midlake, Portugal. The Man, Rosalia, Sorry, Stella Donnelly, Steve Gunn, The Dears, The Mountain Goats, Westerman, White Lies, Whitney, Teen Jesus & the Jean Teasers, Kali Malone & Drew McDowall, Sessa, Micah P Hinson, Clark, Constant Smiles, Jessica Moss, Cold In Berlin and Ata Kak,
I live near road signs for Del Water Gap, but I'll likely listen to Mountain Goats today (though I've found recent stuff a bit blah). Frank Turner has an album of b-sides and unreleased stuff today as well (though, again, more recent stuff, so likely a bit blah)
Anyway what gigs do we all have coming up?
Letters to Cleo in a couple of weeks in NYC and then coming home next month for Men They Couldn't Hang in that London and Laura Stevenson in Newcastle

New Insecure Men is good, the slower tracks in particular are lovely.

Snocaps okay but hasn't grabbed me.

Tomo Nakayama was good on first listen.

Sorry seemed okay on first listen. Quiet sweary this time the little radgies.

I've found myself getting a lot of enjoyment from that Brogeal record, much to my surprise. The back half of that record is very fun in particular.

There's a new Orchid Mantis record out today as well which I've not had a chance to listen to. Super lo-fi stuff but usually solid.

Sabine McCalla's album is terrific. I've been extolling her virtues based on one song for a good while based on one song (which appears on the album in a very different form to the one you'll see on YouTube).

Juana Molina great as expected, Daniel Avery excellent, Lemonheads woohoo, Tortoise cracking etc. (not that I advocate the cracking of tortoises)

Best of the year season has begun. Seems to be earlier every year. I remember in the 00's it used to be the week before Santa including the monthly magazines.

Anyway, Uncut have revealed their album of the year.

I did post who had won Uncut BTW but it's hidden behind a Spoiler tag which doesn't seem to be working. Mojo also announced there's as the same.

Here is Rough Trade's list. Glad to see Hayley Williams up there. Love her album.

The sorry album is very good. Especially echoes and today might be the hit.

Always find Rough Trade tends to be those where they have limited edition vinyl

Zoom, just one look and then my heart went boom...

Away from the opening line from the greatest song of all time, there are new releases this week, as usual. On Friday, we have albums from Austra, AVTT/PTTN (an unexpected collaboration between The Avett Brothers and Mike Patton), Blondshell, Cheap Trick, FKA Twigs, Kara-Lis Coverdale, Keaton Henson, Rheostatics, Lucy Kitt, Runo Plum and Sister Ray Davies.

Austra for me.

There is also deluxe editions of Warning by Green Day (my fav of theirs since it was the first one I listened to) and Black and Blue by the Stones.

New single by Robyn out now too.

Didn’t know that Blondshell had another one out this year. Hope it’s better than the April release.

Enjoyed that Austra album, first time I've listened to her so it's worth a listen.

That Green Day remaster/deluxe is completely pointless.

Listening to Black and Blue by the Stones now. Never heard this before but it's good. It's got a groove and a bit, what I would call, dubby in parts.

A second Charli XCX song is out this week for the upcoming Wuthering Heights movie. She's releasing a full album for it. First song was her and John Cale. Second one is just her and features in the new trailer. I like it.
