Why is it up to the governing bodies though? If investors are stumping up the cash and want to finance that type of development that will be multi-purpose, why should anyone intervene?

I know it's stupid from a Birmingham City point of view but outside of football, the fact the second biggest city in the UK doesn't really have a world class stadium is poor. Definitely a place for it for stuff beyond football.

With a large South Asian community indifferent to football at best, and a bigger draw in Villa. Villa would srtuggle to fill an 60k ground. Blues have no choice.

My post was only half serious. Let them crack on, if they are willing to finance it without loading it onto the club then no bother really. 60k plus for Birmingham is absolutely ridiculous in reality. Just a pure billy big balls vanity project. Why not build one at 40k, invest the money saved in other areas of the club and see where they stand at a later date?

Darlo were a fourth tier club under the control of a convict! Their stadium was built out of town and was completely unviable for multi-use.
Birmingham, both the club and the locality, is a completely different kettle of fish.

They've got Villa, Wolves and West Brom in close proximity. It's not a one club City it's very diverse. They won't get close to filling it imo.
If Birmingham were in Prem they would fill it.

I can't either. There's very few events that would generate that sort of interest for it and given Wembley / Spurs already have the NFL when it's here I just can't see how even that is feasible.

That’s not reason for governing body intervention. The EFL or FA can’t say to Birmingham ‘you’ll never fill that, we’re not allowing it’.
If these investors want to go for it, finance it and have ambitions for Brum in the top flight with an ambition for other events to be held there, that’s their business.
