NEPL 2022

The club (1sts and 2nds) has lost something like 11 or 12 players to - University, lads moving away for work, lads simply packing in, lads moving on to other clubs and retirement.
Quite nice to see the "old firm" of South North and Chester struggling and not just smashing everyone week in week out.
It would be welcoming if money doesn’t buy success this season for‘big clubs’ such as South North and Chester le Street.

I genuinely think CLS will pay the least out in the league. From their team on Saturday, I think they had one paid player.

Called in to Whitburn yesterday after walking the dogs along the beach.

Lot of people there watching who seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Always found it to be a pretty laid-back place to play and watch.

Aye I went Saturday..was planning on Sunday anarl but the weather wasn't quite nice enough

As far as I'm aware CLS CC last won the NEPL in 2016 and that's the only time they've won it since 2011?
Money will still buy the success even if South North and CLS don’t win
With Burnmoor being the classic example recently.
Don’t know how if that’s the case. Must be the busiest bar of all the clubs in the NEPL
Remember that the bar took a massive hit during the pandemic. The club must have lost a 5 or 6 figure sum in takings. Take a while to recover from that.
Chester off the mark with a win yesterday. Eppleton only team to not win a game now
I'm told that Micky Allan batted superbly for Sunderland.

Looks like a LMC meeting tomorrow night to discuss options for Play Off Final Day as presumably some Durham based clubs may have an issue fielding two teams

Sunderland are playing Whitburn that day, so I know the question was asked for those particular 2 games as it would suit both teams.

Think the complication was that cup games are due to be played on the Sunday so it couldn't just be switched to then.

I don't think they can play some first team fixtures that day and not the others. With promotion and relegation in play all fixtures need to play same day as weather etc impacts

I think fitting in an extra game is going to be difficult with national cups, bank holiday events already organised etc. Can't even extend the season as this stage due to holidays booked, grounds booked in for end of season work etc

Difficult one for the league mind as no clear way to accommodate without wider impact. Maybe sensible to consider moving 2nd team fixture but still have issue with double weekend problem.

To future proof they should have a vacancy slot at end of the season so grounds must be available and lads aware that season may play another week. This would mitigate the problems of grounds for this season

Not sure the weather on different days should be a consideration given that on the same day it could be torrential in Ashington but sunny in Willington, so it's all pot luck.

Either way, I don't think anything will change.

Back in the mid 70's and to probably mid 80's the old NWD League left Fa Cup Final day free regardless of teams. Not sure if it started in 73 & 74 and continued on.
