The left don’t want any of that - they want to control all aspects of peoples lives.

On another note - do you listen to Dan Bongino’s podcast? He’s just been ban/cancelled off YouTube for having the wrong opinions?

It’s no real loss though as he was migrating fully to Rumble who he is an early investor of that YT alternative platform.

It seems the left hate anyone on the right who is very popular.

To be fair I’m probably not interested. I’m not really that bothered about left/right @culture wars” etc etc

There are just certain things I was brought up with that haven’t really changed. I’m a wet liberal on a lot of things.

Do you know who does need protecting from misinformation? People who are immune compromised and find themselves in a more dangerous infectious environment when utter twats convince the ignorant not to take safety measures against a pandemic. People who work in hospitals and are being harassed by angry mobs of people who have been radicalised by misinformation.

I'm happy for you to try and get the internet shut down because that is the only way you will stop this phenomena.

I am not responsible for how people interpret the world and I would prefer that the world isn't censored for fear that stupid people might believe stuff.

Who agrees with me is irrelevant. There are certain fundamental ideas and philosophies that I reckon some nutty right winger would agree with me on. I have no issue with that.

I never called for censorship. I don't think however that you can sit back and allow people with malign intentions to erode the basis by which facts are understood and respected, let the dice fall, and expect society to still be in one piece afterwards.

What would you call it? The internet allows people to publish their views. No filter.

I think we have a very similar view on the world but I am happy for people to be allowed to think for themselves.

Words can always be counteracted with other words.

I'm not even sure what is so dangerous about what these people are spewing out.

I do feel the world is slipping away from a rational liberal world to nonsense and voodoo in many cases. maybe, it is the lack of a moral framework to live by. I have no idea but I find it interesting.

That point about being protected from misinformation really is key. If somebody is spouting nonsense, who has a large audience, it is much easier to call them out and dispel what they have said when everyone can take it in, as it will be covered by a range of sources. I think driving those people off major platforms will have a much more negative impact. They will then move to other, smaller platforms (where it is more of a hive mind), where there is zero criticism or counter arguments.
