Neil Warnock's Book

1) 3rd party ownership was NOT illegal at the time
2) the fine was way over a years tv money and very nearly bankrupted us lead to our eventual relegation too

what was illegal was a clause in the contract saying that Joorbachian (who just moved Coutinho to Barca) could move them on in any window without West ham agreeing first

this clause was never activated and remained just something in the contract that never got used, and it WAS West Hams new board that went to the FA when they realised it may not be correct

there were 4 court cases over this, West Ham won 3 Sheff United won 1 yet we had to pay

the only reason we did not continue to fight is tat when we went into debt dueto the IClandic banking crisis the auditor refused to sign off on our accounts until this was settled, if we had kept fighting the club would have been forced into administration

I stand corrected.

I think he took the Leeds job to quickly after getting the sack from us , it was never suited to him and I think he felt that , but as a neutral I don't think he did a bad job at yours , and yes the football was very good we dominate teams with flair and grit which is what you need to get any team out of the championship

He had to clear up Grayson's mess and we had a good run in both cups beating Spurs and Everton. We were in touch with the play-offs for most of the season and I think he could have taken us up if he'd had time. I think he would have taken us up if he'd had the team that finished 7th.

The excuse for Grayson is that he had to work for Bates, the excuse for McDermott is that he had to work for GFH, but Warnock had to work for both and during a protracted takeover, and he gets no sympathy.

Sadly, all the owners we've had over the past 15 years have just wanted yes men who are grateful to be there, anyone with anything about them gets sacked at the first sign of trouble and publicly run down. The LMA should step in, but they also represent the talentless losers the set up at Leeds suits.

Not sure if he was in charge, but that cup semi final against Arsenal was a good game

I was at that match......fantastic save by Seaman to ensure Arsenal won

Remember Sheff United beating Arsenal in the Cup at Bramall Lane in 1996 and Seaman's ex wife ringing a radio phone in to say "I hope you'e listening David because your 2 lads are very happy that their team Sheffield United have beaten Arsenal"

Hell hath no fury.....

I just finished reading this, thanks for the recommendation. Picked it up for 99p on Kindle, very enjoyable read. Not exactly a book for tacticians and it does have a wandering style of writing, but great fun throughout, really giving an idea of what a managers life is really like in the Championship especially.

come on then what 70%?

I've just had another read and it's all true

actually apologies it was twice we won in court not 3 times

July 3: Sheffield United lose their legal challenge against the Premier League after an arbitration panel dismiss their claim over the Tevez affair.

July 13: Following a private hearing at the High Court, Sheffield United's attempt to gain leave to appeal the arbitration panel's decision is refused.

September 23, 2008: An independent arbitration hearing rules in favour of Sheffield United in their claim for compensation from West Ham.

On 3rd party not being illegal at the time just the clause allowing Joorbachian to move them(which he didn't) -

""Then, such a set-up was not illegal in England, but there were important caveats that the investor could not attempt to influence club playing and selection decisions, or transfers, or indeed any other major club policy.""

Cry me a river mate, you got a brand new stadium for pennies and continue to get help from the taxpayer.
