Nackered laptop

Seems it is the GPU that's gone. I've reinstalled windows but once I install the drivers for the GPU I'm back to the same issue. Gutted.

As Andy P mentioned, find the ORIGINAL drivers that came with the laptop - should be on your laptop's website.
Sometimes you get strange bespoke drivers and others just don't work.

My laptop won't boot up. I'm not getting an error message the screen just goes black instead of opening the log in screen. What are the most common things I should try?

The fact you are getting some display is a good sign, of course.

Hopefully it is just drivers...try older drivers as mentioned above, trial and error. When it breaks, back into safe mode and uninstall the drivers. Then try the next batch.
