O'nein being so fluid yesterday helped us as earlier on in the season you had hume tucking in and neither of the centre backs came out wide to help support on that channel. Now Hume doesn't have to be stuck between 2 jobs and just looking like a.spare part. Once Roberts lost the ball we were in big trouble. That's been ironed out a bit now and we look alot more solid.

To be fair there had been a lot of criticism first few games but he'd tried to implement a system where jobe and Neil looked more like number eights, which quite a few had called for.

I think as a consequence of that we lost out on wide inter play (Neil floated right and Bellingham left - we didnt really get enough from it) and I'm not sure those two or the fullbacks or Ekwah anchoring the midfield fully understood their roles and we looked a bit laboured going forward even with a lot of possession and susceptible to the counter.

We've always been quite open playing on the front foot anyway but a combination of things has led to us being a bit more organised setting up closer to how we were previously - having Dack in and having to call on Pritchard helped. Southampton coming out and playing leaving space as we've always been quick on the counter.

For me at the moment I'm not sure where I stand on a striker and Jobe behind him. I think Jobe is a talented player but probably doesn't offer us the creativity, link play or experience we get from one or two others in the final third and he needs to be stronger when receiving the ball. He does however offer a goal threat in the final third, good in the air and great movement in the box. So far he's probably looked a better striker than we've yet to see from our strikers (very early days ofc).

Especially when it was 2 games where we could and probably should have come away with points from both :lol:

Was a lovely bump this, well played to all involved.
 
Not sure what the defence were told to do the first 20 mins or so, each defender playing different positions in a hybrid system, Huggins didn't look confortable
