Mowbray confirmed

Give owa, we need more ambition than 2 seasons of just surviving.
Hence I wrote keep us out of the relegation scrap rather than surviving. Because just surving, I agree, is not ambitious enough. We need to aim for higher than that.
And I would hope that Mowbray can put our youngsters to good use instead of what was apparently Neil's view, bring in players in the late 20's to fight for promotion, which I believe would be unrealistic and overambitious for the next up to 3 seasons

Consolidation this season, top 10 next. Then we're established and a young coach with big ambitions to come in to push us on again. Mowbray to then take a role overseeing the academy. All just me guessing, but it's a plan and strategy that would make sense.
If we consolidate and then make top 10 they aren't just going to bin mowbray

Best of luck Mogga.
As I’ve mentioned elsewhere I’m Mogga neutral. Don’t have an opinion either way other than wanting him to succeed here. I don’t however have any recollection of him making a total pigs ear out of any job and that’s a step up from most of the eejits appointed by safc in my 54yrs of suffering this shite.
I'm similarly mognostic

Best wishes for the rest of the season folks. You’re a good bunch and a decent club. Sorry about taking AN, I could be sorry we did 😕

All the best…
Not sure you took him, he had the back door open for a quick option all the time, I dont think it mattered which club it was, you were first to bite just more money and wants control of your transfers, good luck with that :)

Should probably read the full thing but those snippets don't fill me with confidence like.
Using Gerrard for inspiration?
Says he's hopeless at plenty of stuff.
At the time Gerrard was considered a success story, things change quickly especially for the man in charge of the CD player.

It's crazy to me that people seem happy for us to just make up the numbers for any length of time, let alone years. We're the biggest club in the championship (imo) so act like it; there's all sort of talk of how Mowbray done great for a few mid table finishes and an 8th with Blackburn. What no one mentione is Lee Johnson did exactly the same with Bristol City, and we know how rank average (at best) he is. Some mid tables and a peak finish of 8th. The quality of the championship is massively over estimated imo - even in our defeats this season I've seen nothing to suggest we have anything to fear and the that shouldn't be top half, towards the playoffs.

We may “the biggest club” but we aren’t awash with parachute payment money like other clubs.

EASIEST AND CHEAPEST AS USUAL. BIG STEP BACK.THIS BOARD IS TAKING SAFC NOWHERE FAST .THESE KIDS WONT LAST 5MINUTES IN THIS LEAGUE, ROSS STEWART STOKES NEW STRIKER WHEN IS CONTRACT IS UP NEXT SEASON

There's quite a difference between just surviving or being happy with a mid table finish and building a squad that will be able to win promotion to the Premier League and do reasonably well in it once it gets there.

I don't know how many seasons building a squad but it will take more than one or two will take to achieve. We have to get as high as we can each season without losing any ground on the previous one . Last season we finished 5th in League One so this season just not being relegated from the Championship would mark some progress. I believe however that we will do a lot better than that but we a long way off being Premier League material. From our starting point newly arrived fro League One that's going to take a lot more work than can be done in any one season.

Saying this does not make me happy to settle for survival or mediocrity it makes me demand a constant improvement from the team but it also requires me to remain aware that building up a squad that is of Premeire League quality will only happen over time.

I think that's fair. Being solid in the Championship for a couple of seasons shouldn't mean treading water. For example, a mid table finish followed by a near or in the playoffs finish in the next two seasons should be accompanied by progress of the squad so that anyone getting meaningful playing time should be at least top half Championship standard with a decent number who look like they could make the step up if we get promoted. We're not there now so Mowbray and his staff need to bring in players and develop existing players up to that standard. Even then someone needs to take a good look at him at the end of his current contract and ask if he's the one to take us forward from wherever we are at that point.
