Mowbray confirmed

Depends who you believe , had a Boro fan on who reckons he played attacking football when he managed them a decade and a half ago . ( Other boro fans on since agreeing that he was a disaster at Boro).
But if you read the thread that links to the Blackburn forum ,almost to man they say 5 years of his boring football was a penance that they wouldn't wish on us.
Well he's gonna have a get them playing an attacking style cos that's what they do best and our defending is suspect.
The experience deficiency is up to Speakman to address.

Disappointing appointment for me, hopefully I'm proved drastically wrong. Admittedly I'm nowhere near as disappointed as I was on the day when we appointed Parky or Johnson when everyone was trying to pretend they were great appointments.

Haway Mogga's lads and that.
Don't think anyone thought Parky was a good appt

Pleased this has not been a drawn out process and we can move on.
Many were underwhelmed by Neil’s appointment so got no problem with Mowbray hopefully a safe pair of hands.
Boro game will be interesting after their poor start.

Personally all I ask is that he shows more passion than Moyes, is more astute than Grayson, more humble than Coleman, more courageous than Ross, more everything than Parkinson, more motivational than Johnson and more effective in all aspects of his job than Neil.
If he does the last one we will be fine.
Welcome Tony-given recent circumstances I'm glad your on board.

Edit: we’ve dropped to 14th. Mowbray out!
Probably why they’ve announced it late on. Wiki when he retires will read summet like: “Sir Tony Mowbray was appointed with SAFC in 14th place in the Championship. Within five years he’d led them to their first Champions League title. He then led England to three successive WC titles in his summer job while still racking up the silverware at the SOL during his day job”.

I was expecting my boro supporting brother in law to take the piss about this when I saw him Sunday, but he was genuinely full of praise.

Contract seems a bit long, but I'm pleased the club acted quickly in difficult circumstances and appointed a steady pair of hands for this level.

Parkinson poll (2%)

Mowbray poll (17% with the leader, Manning being on 22)

People may not be overwhelmed by his appointment, but its fair to say the people on this forum are a lot more supportive of Mowbray’s appointment than Parkinson’s
