Most famous person you have ever met?

Met Josh Homme about 2008 in Newcastle, and Thurston Moore about 2012 in The Cumberland Arms. Most celebrities though could pass me by in the street and I probably wouldn’t recognise them. Or be arsed.

Probably Surav Ganguly. Met him one quiet tea time in memories of india CLS. If youre Captain of India youre pretty famous on a numbers basis like

Billy Connolly - He was filming in Vancouver and I met him in a Bar while watching a Blues Band......Fantastic Bloke, me Dad worked in the Shipyards (Austin and Pickersgills) so had a canny crack about that and Sunderland...... Blues band was good too.......Was in Canada tracking down my Grandad's Sister and Brothers who left the Marley Potts area of Sunderland in the Twenties.....Lucky Buggers!!!

I was out drinking one night at my local when I was living in Barbados, lots of blue lights flashing and an police escort pulled up and out of the cars came Rhianna and the Prime Minister Mia Mottley, had a few drinks with them that evening and a couple of nicer people you couldn't meet! Still had to pay for my own drinks mind! Used to go to Gary Sobers house occasionally for a couple of beers, he would never about his cricket career though! Have met a lot of celebrities over there but it is a small island and everybody knows everyone!!

Queen Elizabeth II, when I was 10.

Pele, Bobby Charlton, and Henry Cooper. They were all sitting beside a hotel pool in Kenya when I was 9.
Daniel Arap Moi drove past in a police convoy once when I was in Kenya. The locals told us who it was because we had no idea. We got some strange looks when we started singing Oh Danny Moi.

It's amazing the amount of world class cricketers they've produced down the years. Population is about the same as Sunderland.

I've met the Queen when i was a kid, if her walking past me whilst i was stood in line counts as meeting.

When i lived in London I've had a few random nights where famous(ish) people turned up because they know some one i was with, including cast members from Eastenders, ex Gladiators and some members of the House of Lords. I had a bottle with Boris Becker at the hospitality at the Tennis Masters at the 02, which was pretty cool. I sat next to Roy Hodgson at a FMA black tie dinner, Arsene Wenger was on the next table. I also got to speak to Bobby Robson the same night, alongside Alan Brazil, who was off his tits.

I've had a few tickets to Leicester Square film premiers through a connection at an old job, the best was being sat next to Richard and Judy and behind Keely Hazell at the Simpsons Movie.

When I did the bridge climb at Sydney Harbour Bridge in 2003, Todd Landers from Neighbours gave me the safety briefing.

Update on my Village People post earlier……….Met Mick McCarthy on holiday in St Lucia last week, the big man was just about to enter the sulphur mud baths  as we were. Had a bit of crack about his SAFC days, top bloke all round, very down to earth and was happy to chat.

Idi Amin drove past my school in Kenya. We lined the road with placards. Mine read: 'Idiot Amin'. His car stopped right opposite me, the window wound down, and I saw him inside laughing his head off.

"Alreet, do you know me, I'm Dave The Rave, Sunderlands top raver, I'm on YouTube and that"

Did it go something like that. He's introduced himself to me twice with those words

I saw him in a chemists. Just started talking to me about safc, and i brought up his raving career.

he must know my face, talked to him loads during the early 90s, then again, literally everyone did...

he must be in the top 10 famous from this area
