Most existing Safc player in your time

This is a very difficult decision but my choice reverts to my youth. Dennis Tueart my not be a name that springs to mind but he was a player that exited fans. He had the ability to attack defenders rather than play the ball back was two footed and an eye for goal. A member of the 1973 Cup Final team and
not to mention his overhead kick which he scored for Man City against the Mags in the 1976 League Cup Final.
There are many more players who I could have acclaimed and I know you will have many which live in your memory as does Tueart for me.
Tueart stopped exciting SAFC fans in the summer after the 73 cup win after a couple of big moves were turned down when he decided to only dribble past players in cup games and to instead pass it sideways in the League.
Marco imho. You’d be thinking he could score here no matter whereabouts on the pitch he had the ball. A few mags I worked with at the time were the first to mention it to me.

It’s been slim pickings, while I’ve watched, beagrie, Johnston, malbranque, Johnson, and now roberts and Clarke I’m really struggling to think of many since 91. That have been skilful and beat ppl with ease

Shack,Harry Hoope,Billy Binghamr George Mulhall. Joe Mcdonald and jack Hedley for crunching tackles, long lost to the modern game. Now it's all flying mares and half Nelsons more suited to the wrestling ring.
Special mention for Bobby Kerr people forget how good he was.

As he was 86 just a few weeks ago I think that Charlie Hurley must now be the most "existing" Sunderland player . God bless him. ;)

Kenwyne was a beast until his injury. Just looked like he could bully any defence. Used to love watching him. Andy Welsh n'all
Problem with him was he never wanted to be a bully. Far to laid back for my liking.just wished he had a temper such as John Hartson. He underachieved massively in his career imo. Shame.
Stan Cummins , Kieron Brady , Sessegnon........we would all expect something when they got the ball
4 pages before Brady was mentioned. I'm very surprised.

Billy Hughes before he broke his ankle early 76 was very exciting. Scored some fabulous goals.
Denis another one.

Dennis was a magnificent attacking player who could go past defenders either way, had a fair bit of pace and was brave. As he matured, long after he left SAFC, he became a very, very effective midfielder with a mean, some might say nasty streak.
But his most "exciting" period as a player was definitely with us and his first couple of seasons with Man City.
A true Lads legend and his decision to go for a move as we struggled to win promotion after the Cup win should not be held against him. He was more ambitious than the club, that's all.
