most amusing chant you heard at the Boro game?

its not that bad, population of wearside is 3 times that of teesside, when did you ever get 3 times as many?
sunderlands and newcastles support has been poor in the past too.96-97 you were in the premier and yet couldnt fill roker park which only held 22,000.
last time sunderland went down you lost 12,000 overnight.
the lowest top flight crowd in the north east wasnt at mbro or even sunderland but further up the road.i have alot of time for sunderland fans(unlike the big time charlies up your road)so not having a go.i said as much about sundays especially when you look at evertons 25k.
its just a smaller place thats all

No it hasn't. A quick look at Wikepedia shows that the diffeence in population between Boro and Teesside and Sunderland and Wearside is quite literally, a couple of thousand.
Biff.

When I said Boro fans are shit, I wasn't only referring to their abysmal crowds (I've noticed the odd 14K this season ) but their shit songs, tiny repertoire and grim, shit atmosphere.

I was curious to know why they are so abysmal.

you're not much better, didnt hear a peep until you were gifted your equaliser and the odd we hate burra

and youve never really made much noise down here either. didnt you only start standing the last time you came

Our away support, noise wise, has been mostly shite in recent seasons. I'll not deny that.

The numbers you take when you go away are shocking though, that must have been the first time you've sold out away in years.

I remember you having around 100-200 at Goodison for a televised game a few years back (might have been the last season you were in the Prem).

If Middlesbrough' support is so shyte, then why is Sunlun's all time average just 4000 more?

And you havent made that up have you?

No I haven't made that up. I was there i know it was happening. There was a reason for it which was identified and dealt with, but that kind of dilutes the point.

made it up?no go on to the guardians website search child abuse stats, you will also find that the second highest total is durham.
so no not made it up,maybe the truth hurts? unlike that story about saltburn, never heard that in my life

Still happened, regardless of whether or not you heard about it. I was there.

7th time this season

that everton game was poor support mind. think it was about 400

He's from Stockton not sarf of the river sicko, sorry, thicko.

PS: I'm not sure if Marietta Higgs lost her job or just decided to take another one at a hospital down in Gillingham.

Stockton was in Cleveland and, therefore families were at risk from the mental social worker.

Now, I can't stand Boro but the Paedo chants / jokes etc are cringeworthy. Mainly because they are totally ill-informed. It sounds a bit thick really to be honest.

beats made up bullshit to be fair.

You are still yet to prove your bullshit stats.

You are one sad individual who trawls internet websites finding out about children being abused, are you sure there are no underlying issues you need to share?

Fuckin weirdo :-?

I can verify they weren't bullshit. She was very selective in the way she used them though.

Sunderland have a much larger fan base than Middlesbrough - they are a historically more successful club and the support they enjoy now can partly be attriubted to the success it had 60 years ago. Middlesbrough have never had that kind of success.

And yes we can all go on about population etc...all I will say is this, not many people outside of Teesside support Middlesbrough. I would say Sunderland have a much higher pecentage supporters outside their immediate area compared to Middlesbrough.

Steve Gibson seemed to think on radio tees that the percentage of Middlesbrough season ticket holders who live within 5 miles of the stadium is higher than any other premier or championship club.

People seem to forget than in 1997/98 when Middlesbrough were in the championship we sold out EVERY home game - 30k (riverside had 2 empty corners then) for some games I have no doubt we could have got 40k. For a club with the history of boro and the size of the town, that stat is truely outstanding. So the fact we get 20k now is about par, its not bad at all.

Oh and I have not forgotten some of the attendances at Roker Park during Mick Buxtons final months in charge.

Middlesbrough are not Newcastle, Leeds or even Sunderland. So the fact that Middlesbrough over the years have come close to these clubs and sometimes beaten them attendances speaks volumes for the people of Teesside.

Around 95, sunlun couldnt sell out a 22,000 Roker park most weeks in the top flight. Now they are like the 52,000 geordies who haven't missed a game since before Keegan first arrived.

To be fair - these sicko chants that you lesser Geordies insist on singing make you look absolute dicks. You seem to be stuck in a time-warp , like the weird little pit villages you all seem to come from.

Also , you go on about our crowds lacking in atmosphere , i can honestly say i've never heard your lot sing when you're at the riverside - at least Newcastle make themselves heard.

we are always poor against you lot noise wise cos too many want to sing about kids so others dont join in.

songbook wise, dont kid yasell, we have one of the biggest about these days.

good point well made

as a Sunderland supporter who has kids i am embarrassed at this slant on football / local rivalry

the banter is good though,

but would be good to change the record once in a while
