More erasing of history...

If the people being "appeased" are "morons" then what does that say about the people getting upset over this, who were either too lazy or too stupid to take part in the public consultation?

I bet most weren't aware of it. Since boaty mcboatface I think people are very careful about making these things commonly known.

Certainly I wasnt aware of it!

At this point either he's a troll, or he's just too stupid to debate with.

Doesn't understand that this was a public consultation. Brands anything he doesn't like as being "woke". Just a bit of a moron really!

All you do is fire out abuse man.
Grow up.

Precisely.
This wasn't public at all. It was enormously limited and with the possible outcome of an Afghani general election.

What did you want them to do, send out voting slips to every household? At great cost to the tax payer for something that isnt really that important
It was announced on BBC news & their website, and newspapers im guessing will of also reported it.

I like to think I'm relatively on the ball with current affairs, but it passed my by completely.
It passed many people by.

Im guessing GBeebies forgot to mention it then, and it seems its their viewership who are the most irate about it. Maybe they deliberately didnt mention it as the result was the obvious one, so they knew they could get outraged over it when the inevitable happened 🤣

The consultation, aimed at deciding the theme for future bank notes, was launched and publicized via the following methods:
  • Bank of England News/Press Release: The primary announcement was made on 2 July 2025 via the Bank of England's official channels.
  • Online Survey: The Bank used an online public survey to gather views.
  • Targeted Outreach & Submissions: The consultation accepted responses through emails, post, and submissions directly from schools and the general public.
  • Media Coverage: The initiative was covered by national news outlets (e.g., BBC, Sky News, print media), amplifying the announcement that the Bank of England was asking for design input.
  • Social Media: Announcements and reminders were made on social media platforms, including platforms like Facebook.
    Bank of England +6

However, i spotted it, as in post 1, on the BBC website.
Therefore the hilarious reference to GB news , which i have never watched, is pointless.

Yep, it was completely hidden. There's no way that national news organisations like the BBC, ITV, The Independent, LBC, The Spectator, The Sun, The Times or the Daily Express would have reported on the public consultation when it began....

Oh wait.

For something that was "enormously limited" and kept hidden from the public, it's remarkably easy to find news stories about it.

Enormous 44k vote.

Yes, massively noticed.
Well done on avoiding the abuse though, big man.
Keep it up.

I've said nothing to you that's any worse than what you've said to other on this thread.

Also just because only 44k people bothered to vote, doesn't mean that it wasn't publicised.

In 60 seconds I found 8 different national news organisations reporting on the launch of the public consultation. It was publicised, it wasn't hidden, it was widely reported on.

The reality is that a whole bunch of people who didn't think it was important enough to bother voting on, are now complaining about the outcome. If all these people had bothered casting their own vote, then maybe they'd have got the result they wanted.

If you didn't know about it when it was reported on every news platform, that's nobodies fault but your own.

If only those fat, lazy gammons had got off their arses and voted....

Much nicer.

It's weird isn't it. They didn't care enough to vote, but now they care enormously because they didn't get the result they wanted.

If only there was something they could have done to have had their say before the decision was made. Maybe something like clicking on a link in one of the many, many news articles about it and taking 10 seconds to select the option they preferred. Ah well, wishful thinking.

After all, we all know that this public consultation was kept completely hidden from the public. Well, as long as you ignore all of the news media that reported on it that is.

I would have voted.
But I didnt know.
I simply cannot know everything that is going on, luckily you can.

What should they have done then?

Should they have sent a leaflet to every single house in the UK? Should they have used the emergency alert system to send out an alert to everyones phones? Should they have hired tens of thousands of people to go and knock on every door in the country?

It was reported on every major news outlet. If you didn't know about it that's nobodies fault but your own.

Publicised it more. Might have got a bigger vote.
