More erasing of history...

A glib analogy for Imperialism.

Point is you saying that we are a rich and powerful nation ergo the British Empire was an overall good thing is to put it mildly, a very Anglo-centric view.
As an Irish Catholic I'd just like to say the British Empire was not of great benefit to me or my brethren... what is left of them.

The f***ing irony.

You've admitted you didn't vote in the public consultation, started a thread to whinge about the outcome, and are throwing your toys out of the pram when anybody dares to contradict you!

I admitted i hadn't heard of it. Judging by the turnout, not many did.
We see bigger votes for the naming of bin wagons ffs.
And stop the tough guy aggression. Youre an anonymous person. Nothing else.

I do not love Churchill as he was a deeply problematic and awful man, but he was an immense war time leader and we do owe him a debt we can never fully understand.... BUT... thanks to this thread I'm happy we are choosing the celebration and preservation of beautiful wildlife.

So I'm supposed to what, ignore the perspectives and concerns of those who are and were screwed over by British Imperialism?

Are you really being the "Yet you participate in society? Curious" guy?

Tangents, tangents everywhere!

We should celebrate our history. Not erase it to pacify a few.

Where you from?

He wanted a United Ireland...

I dont care about the note design, I just cant fathom what your issue is as youre having a meltdown over nowt. Im not arguing, im taking the piss out of your little hissy fit for thinking this is some woke conspiracy.
People do care though
A country with such a rich and proud history as ours, scrapping historical characters - that play an important role in the story of our nation, and who we are - from bank notes, to avoid angering the anti-Britain, BLM, Pro-Palistine, Pro-Iran etc etc knackers that we've filled our country with.

Scandalous really.

Youre just being ridiculous.
It happens all over the world. There must be a reason for it.
In your, pathetic, logic, perhaps we should drop the Jimmy Monty stand name and call it Adam Johnson.
I’m not the one accusing people of erasing history - you are, yet you only seem interested in preserving the history that you like?

Recognising only the good people / good acts and ignoring the bad = erasing history

Putting a couple of birds on the back of a note = not altering history in the slightest
