Moeen Ali offered Ashes return

Like I say mate, it's a concern
Defintely . Hope Moeen does the job . It’s going to be really interesting to see if Stokes can bowl anywhere near his best level

if he can, the lack of spin may not be much of a hurdle if broad, Anderson , Robinson get it swinging and nipping about

if he can’t , then Moeen and Joe root will have a job on to keep the run rate down

Stokes really worries me, his knee is clearly in a terrible way, I'm not expecting him to bowl much, if at all and certainly not at full pelt.

As I said the other day, we may as well play 4 seamers and hope Root can play as back up spinner

I would go four seamers especially at Edgbaston . I’m worried about Mark Wood as he has barely bowled a red ball seriously for months

from the test v Ireland I thought Broad should play, then Anderson has had a niggle so has Robinson

it wouldn’t surprise me if Woakes plays on his home ground

I can’t wait to be honest

Stokes will go through the pain barrier this series. He will bowl.

Aye people keep talking about him being able to bowl, which is ok, but he needs to be able to bowl good doesn’t he. Like test quality. It’s the main worry and his fitness vs green could decide the series I reckon

Anyone who posts on this site knows that if England brought in a second rate spinner who, is under pressure, is being targeted by the Aussies from ball one, and who is inexperience……is going to crumble.

You could very easily be describing Modern Ali there like, just saying 🤷‍♂️
How did the Indian spinner get on today? Not very well.

It's a concern no two ways about it

Can’t believe they didn’t pick Ashwin.

He probs will but he does have 200 test wickets like, that’s the difference, and the trade off stokes has took. There’s no easy answer and anyone coming in is gonna find it extremely tough

Day 1 mind. He won’t impact the game till days 4 n 5 in England

It’s unlikely but this india match has a spare day allocated for any weather interruption preventing a result

He was on good form today, and was very relaxed. I think that’s all you can ask, he won’t be bowling badly due to nerves. Kind of why they picked him

Looking round the scorecards today no spinners are making much impact even though it’s perfect conditions
