Moeen Ali offered Ashes return

seemingly he packed test cricket in because of all the covid protocols and bubbles. None of that will apply here. As someone much cleverer than me wrote... he'll be able to sleep in his own bed for the Edgbaston test

Unfortunately he averages over 60 bowling against Oz, but then again a lot has changed in the field under Stokes/Big Mac.... normal rules don't seem to apply anymore.

I've also read that Mo is a big admirer of Stokesy's captaincy and approach, so maybe he will be tempted

Bloody hope not he has not played a red ball game in 2 years. Went to pieces in the last ashes and takes his wickets at 65 in Ashes matches be an awful choice!

Love Moeen, he's been an under-appreciated player for a long time. Heart says yes, head says no and I hope for Moeen's sake his head comes out on top.

The post above yours describes it quite well. I don’t think he’s a particularly good bowler and I think that’s quite an important factor.

I’d much rather see them pick young Ahmed, or even Parkinson, if they want to pick a spinner for his ability to bat, which I worry is maybe why they’re looking at Ali - I’d rather have Livingstone (although Ahmed is useful with the bat).
