I remember that one. 1-0 down when the gates opened, and you could see the Fulwell emptying and the Roker filling. All hell broke loose as we equalised (cracking shot from Tony Towers). Blackpool fans were jumping down the stairwells in the Roker End to get away. All that, and the little general scored a winner in injury time.

My first match

To be fair, you come across as a total f***ing idiot. Did you ever go to Roker. As others have said there was mayhem that day and it wasn’t the only one.

He clearly wasn't around on the many times we played the mags.
Or Chelsea 1st game of the season, or Spurs when they spilled onto the pitch, the Palace cup game or the visits of Man Utd, West Ham, Boro etc.

This is how I remember it marra. Blackpool brought a large contingent with them and they got in early and stood in middle of the Roker end. It was kicking off throughout the match and towards the end they were just about surrounded by Sunderland. There was Hell on .

Blackpool would have been promoted had they beaten us, hence their large following that day.

It's the infamous game when some of their fans decided the best option was to have a plodge in the sea.....

Tbh I don't remember seeing any bother.
I was too busy being mesmerised by the huge pitch and watching my heroes. I do though remember it being loud!
I’d been plonked on the railings in one of the paddocks by the Roker. When it all kicked off near the end the fighting spill dnover into the paddocks. I was terrified to be honest had never seen anything like it. Last home game of the season IIRC, my Dad took me to the first game of the next season to make sure I hadn’t been put off by it. Still going now so it mustn’t have

I was in the Clockstand towards the Fulwell end and totally oblivious. Mind I was 13, so should have noticed something haha
I'm still going too!

Tin hat firmly on here but, was the smoke bomb not directed towards the pitch? From its trajectory it looks like it probably was and a few days prior, one of our fans hoyed one on the pitch when he notched at Peterborough.
I know its irresponsible when you're above other fans but I have a feeling there wasn't malice in it as with Coventry.

f***ing violent decade! You are a sad, vacuous man.

It was before my time but from folk I've spoken to who were there, it certainly was.

And you obviously live in your own little deluded bubble. Daft cunt
Agreed

Everyone has opinions but his are in completely the wrong tone to fellow supporters.

Yet another who wouldn’t say it to your face mate

Maybe true mate but Mr Parrott picked the wrong game to do it at after the Coventry shenanigans

If you genuinely think that's true, you can't have gone to many games, if any, particularly away games.

The '70s was an extremely violent decade to say the least (not just football related).

I started gan in 1978 & certai,ny at Roker can't recall too many incidents

I've problaby seen more since we've been away from Roker or at away games

no you don't know. you cant throw somebody in the cells without any authorisations

their detention has to be, that is must be, authorised by the custody people. If there is a queue ?

the investigation as to what they have done may be after match.

same failings did not occur. there were a lot of stewards and police in the upper tier.

It was the idiot(s) who threw the smoke bomb that are to blame

Clearly you are the oracle of the SMB. Congratulations. Clearly know more than first hand information received from Steve Neill, perhaps you would like his job. The police cells are not a permanent detention so it has its own unique protocol.

The very same failings did occur. A smoke bomb made it into the stadium despite searches. It was then thrown. Same thing as last game. The club procedure is disgraceful and needs reviewing. The club admit this, yet you can’t accept it

I was out with a lad last night who sits below the away fans and has since they were moved up there. He said he's never seen anything like it before, not even from the Mags. He said it was constant from start to finish.

With any luck the fuckers will go bust if we're still in this league next season.
Maybe they can go bust in a years time, we owe them one.

From a few rows back in the concourse it would take a brilliant run up/ throw to clear the lower tier.

Lad was a tit regardless n deserves a short spell inside.

seb not seb dunno..........
