Middlesex

People who say that don't understand the passion of DCCC supporters.

In my opinion Graves had a bitter hatred of us and didn't like the way we were getting decent international cricket which might have otherwise been awarded to Headingley. He therefore saw his chance and in business terms almost murdered us.

It's taken us a while to recover but now we're back...and I fully believe we'll get test cricket back too against decent sides.

My understanding is that the door is open now for us to host test cricket but financially it's not yet viable. It will be eventually though.

So **** off Graves.
I wouldn’t wish death on anybody but when he dies I won’t care.

almost feels like a slap in the in face when you hear Bostock say we dont want test cricket, feels like a lets not rock the boat and upset the ECB, do any supporters not want test cricket back at Durham. I thought grounds no longer had to bid for games?? youd think we'd want the money

I take it purely as being cautious from a business point of view. The drive to host Test Match Cricket is what got us into the mess we were in in the first place - granted the goalposts have since changed - but I don’t mind us playing it safe for now. After all, there’s still money to be made from the odd T20 and ODI and from an on-field point of view I’d much rather see our resources being dedicated there before anything else.

Our new hotel might want to have people there for a few days though

Back? Did we ever get test cricket against decent sides with the exception of one ashes test in 20+ year?

There nay have been a test against a weak sri lanka the week after they played at headingley, if that counts but im struggling to think of any really decent test matches we got

IIRC our debt was exactly what we spent in bidding for tests, which has since been scrapped

If I’ve read it correctly they’re suggesting the cost to set up an out ground suitably is too much so they’ve got games at Essex instead where all the infrastructure is in place. Of all the counties to give that excuse they wouldn’t have been top of the list.

Had issues with Lords for decades and have as long as i can remember had a unrealistic dream of having their own ground.
They genuinely looked at Uxbridge in the 90s but it was not economically possible. Although they have had the advantage of paying a pepper corn rent for using Lords.
