Mick Beale

He wasn't, but he should never have been given the job in the first place after the uproar from fans was obvious. The football really wasn't all that different than under Mowbray that season, but neither of them had the squad to do the business.

I said at the time he was appointed, his success or failure lies squarely with Speakman and KLD. The fans didn't want him, but they didn't back him or give him the tools he needed to do the job.

Agree with all that, but he was still the wrong personality for this club

Michael Beale has been appointed as Steven Gerrard's new assistant manager at Al Ettifaq, talkSPORT understands.
I realise he is the devil incarnate to many for being in charge when our 10m team was beat by a 400m team from a higher division. he had no where near enough time to fix shambles left behind by Mowbray.
wasnt overly fond of him...his mien was very iffy, but as a coach in the game he had a good reputation and many put down any success Gerrard had at Rangers and for a short time at Villa (until Beale left ) to him.
Gerrard is on his last legs in saudi league. like many ( eg keane, lampard, rooney, Ince ) he is all about former playing days and has little to offer in the sphere of managing and coaching.

Tbh I actually felt abit sorry for him rather than disliked him.

People forget we were somehow worse under Dodds

My main issue at the time was more with Speakman and KLD. (Rather then Beale and Dodds tbh)
