So the speakers were in order jon lewis, tim bostock, our new ceo, then neil killeen and john windows.

jon lewis didn't say anything exceptional that i recall. the obvious what you'd expect. disappointing batting too often. doesn't like the no toss rule. happy with signings.

tim bostock spoke very well. happy with the ecb it seems, doubts we'll actually ever pay back the loan. hopes we can be an outground for the hundred and wants us to position ourselves as a likely candidate if they introduce new franchises ever. apparently we aren't in the ecb's top ten counties they're worried about. not entirely sure if thats great for durham or awful for cricket in general [my thoughts not what he said].

the academy will no longer field a team in teh NEPL, john thinks the lads will get a better cricketing education playing normally for teh clubs as a lot already do.

killa spoke very highly of greenwell most of all, half a season away from first team. scott steel, travskis, one other i forget. telling said 'and i'd say this is jon was still here too' [ewis had left at this point] suggesting he disagreed and remembered lewis' comment about nobody knocknig on teh door or whatever he said

mroe to follow as i remember and otehrs can add to this

Someone asked why we play with such big boundaries in the t20. in the standard friendly manner of 'who is responsible and why, the crowd wants to see 4s and 6s' jon lewis replied it is my call as i think it gives us the best chance of winning. the gadgee, who wasn't young by any stretch then tried to create a ludicrous argument 'so you think you're more important than what the crowd want' thought lewis handled this daft attempt to start an argument very well. what the owld fella was on about who knows, the coach's job is to win matches, just thought it might interest people to know he came to this decision, and it is a clear tactic to play to our strengths and engineer low scoring matches to give us the best chance of winning.

next season will be much better for county championships during summer as the world cup affects scheduling for our domestic cups so there'll be cc during the middle period more - but the following year everything changes due to the hundred and god knows what will happen then

the nursery ground is finished now and they're very excited about being able to practise for youth groups and lasses so close.

all through the age groups we had a very succesful year [except the u14s who were just 'ok' OUCH] u13s beat yorkshire for the first time ever

geoff cook came to present a trophy [think the second xi championship but forget 100%] and neil spoke very highly of him, as you'd expect. he spoe very well did killa.

Lewis got the easiest ride he’s ever had at a members forum.
Sick of people being all wind and piss. Was waiting for it to kick off but yet again people are all mouth and no action.
Marty started off about the current game and how well we have done today to turn the game around. Lewis on about how much no toss has on games at this time of year. Talked about signing and how pleased they are with Bancroft, Lees, Salisbury and Ben Raine. They’re still in talks with Colly but McCarthy will be leaving as they would have to register him as an overseas player.
Bloke was asking why they have massive boundaries in 20/20 when people come to watch 4’s & 6’s being hit. Lewis said it was his decision to play with big boundaries as he thought it gave Durham an advantage. Bloke looked a bit pissed off when I said that I come to 20/20’s to see Durham win and not for 4’s & 6’s. Lewis actually said thanks for that mate. (Our friend GM No1 fan will not be happy).
The new CEO Tim Bostock was next up and explained how he got the job and his track record. I asked him about Glamorgan being given £2.5 M for not staging a Test Match after the shit they gave us. He explained that Durham CCC had been given a similar figure but not in cash. He hinted that it had been taken off the interest free loan we received and that he actually did not expect us to have to pay any of the loan back if we stayed within our financial targets. He said he’d recently been to a meeting at the ECB and Durham are not in the top 10 Counties they are worried about financially. Marty brought up about Hampshite having to sell their ground the Council to raise much needed funds and Glamorgan also being in financial trouble after both building Test Match grounds at the FTECB’s request (sound familiar?).
Next up was John Windows & Neil Killeen. John spoke about the Academy leaving the NEPL and Killa spoke about the 2nd Team championship win and reaching the 20/20 Finals Day.
Overall a very positive forum. I was just massively disappointed that the expected fireworks were not present. What a let down.

except he doesn't like a trip to arundel, the git. i guess a 20+ hour round trip to lose a 5 over match can't be much fun.

if not for today's great play it would have been dire like. doubt i'd have stuck around for it.

personally i want to hear about the club not watch people take turns to have digs at a coach trying his best. i thought he was quite abrasive last year, understandably i guess given how it was but this year feel better about it. i'm not someone mind who has called for his head or likes to whinge we're not storming the division - we're where we are as a club right now and i don't see what use people slagging the club off is.

oh, and perhaps the most BIGGEST news of all. pasha the dog now has a twitter account

oh and rushy passed 400 wickts for the club and took 50 wickets in a season for the 4th time, that's probabyl SEB on the match thread but for anyone who hasn't seen it

salary cap restrictions are lifted from next season. we were operating under 60% of the cap, although in hindsight i don't know if bostock meant 60% of the salary cap was the restriction or if we were 60% of what they had restricted us to.

No doubt the gadgee will be one of the f**kwits who sit in the Members Balcony.

if bancroft does really well he may well come into the thinking for australia.

might not be the worst thing to be fair - it will mean he has been a great success here for one but also like this season might mean we end up replacing him with a good spinner just when we need one.

couldn't really have timed it much better with latham leaving and lees arriving then nabbing patel with the overseas spot.

quite probably. surprised not to see you today, the was only a handful of us in the TTE was lovely earlier on.

just a shame steel took so long to get from 80 to 100 when it was beginning to turn brassic

I was on the verge of going upstairs or even breaking into my beloved Trapdoor Stand on more than one occasion today as for the third time running I found myself within earshot of this old Mag who finds it necessary to voice his opinions on absolutely anything that has happened in the last 50 years to anyone who will give him the time of day from roughly 11 am to 6pm.

I'm not doing too badly for someone who went to Wellfield School

What about him?
He pointed out a spelling mistake.....

Look both GMno1F and @chopsfc007 - I think I can remember that this bickering started with one of you taking exception to a comment made by the other. But that was long long ago … there's really no need to have a pop every single time you post!

He did point out a spelling mistake which is entirely up to him. At least I didn't call folk clueless when making spelling mistakes

Thinking about it, the most extraordinary thing that was said was about the debt owed to the ECB, if it was reported correctly.

Firstly it's an interest free loan and Secondly Durham expect to never have to pay it back! Wow. If true we can't say FECB any more.

Agree to disagree. I'm glad the club have a seemingly good relationship with ftecb but that doesn't mean we all have to.

As bostock himself said he wasn't at the club when it happened

To me it sounds like the club has gone back to the ECB within the last year and said something like 'hang on. This isn't right' and the ECB adjusted it's position.

Ok. I get it. We still got stuffed, just not quite as stuffed as it at first appeared.

We can. FTECB only loosened the reigns when Glamorgan 's £5m gift came common knowledge.
