So the speakers were in order jon lewis, tim bostock, our new ceo, then neil killeen and john windows.
jon lewis didn't say anything exceptional that i recall. the obvious what you'd expect. disappointing batting too often. doesn't like the no toss rule. happy with signings.
tim bostock spoke very well. happy with the ecb it seems, doubts we'll actually ever pay back the loan. hopes we can be an outground for the hundred and wants us to position ourselves as a likely candidate if they introduce new franchises ever. apparently we aren't in the ecb's top ten counties they're worried about. not entirely sure if thats great for durham or awful for cricket in general [my thoughts not what he said].
the academy will no longer field a team in teh NEPL, john thinks the lads will get a better cricketing education playing normally for teh clubs as a lot already do.
killa spoke very highly of greenwell most of all, half a season away from first team. scott steel, travskis, one other i forget. telling said 'and i'd say this is jon was still here too' [ewis had left at this point] suggesting he disagreed and remembered lewis' comment about nobody knocknig on teh door or whatever he said
mroe to follow as i remember and otehrs can add to this
Someone asked why we play with such big boundaries in the t20. in the standard friendly manner of 'who is responsible and why, the crowd wants to see 4s and 6s' jon lewis replied it is my call as i think it gives us the best chance of winning. the gadgee, who wasn't young by any stretch then tried to create a ludicrous argument 'so you think you're more important than what the crowd want' thought lewis handled this daft attempt to start an argument very well. what the owld fella was on about who knows, the coach's job is to win matches, just thought it might interest people to know he came to this decision, and it is a clear tactic to play to our strengths and engineer low scoring matches to give us the best chance of winning.
next season will be much better for county championships during summer as the world cup affects scheduling for our domestic cups so there'll be cc during the middle period more - but the following year everything changes due to the hundred and god knows what will happen then
the nursery ground is finished now and they're very excited about being able to practise for youth groups and lasses so close.
all through the age groups we had a very succesful year [except the u14s who were just 'ok' OUCH] u13s beat yorkshire for the first time ever
geoff cook came to present a trophy [think the second xi championship but forget 100%] and neil spoke very highly of him, as you'd expect. he spoe very well did killa.
