See you there sunshine

Anybody going? I’m at the game but unfortunately can’t stay.

I’m sure somebody will ask der management their views on Yorkshire’s punishment (or lack thereof)

Hosted by Ash Thorpe with Lees, Pretorius and Coach Campbell in attendance.

AT jokingly dismissed the T20 campaign but Campbell was quick to announce that he wants Durham to dominate in all three formats and not just red ball. He said the Championship table was a fair reflection on our performances although he cited games like Sussex and Glam aways as games we should have won.

Pretorius was asked how he has found life in the NE and he said he was impressed with the dressing room attitude. Lees said earlier in the season he was disappointed to be getting out in the 40s while the other Top 6 batters were posting big scores and put his recent golden run down to concentration.

Campbell said he could understand the likes of Mackintosh being frustrated as he used to be understudy wk to Gilchrist. He wants to see our young players dominate at local club level and 2nd XI level. He said he didn't want players scoring 30s and thinking that was fine and knocking at his door wanting to know why they weren't getting picked as he said if they were only scoring 30s he himself would be knocking at THEIR door asking what was up. He mentioned other counties who have bigger squads that allowed them to have specific red ball bowling line ups which we couldn't do.

Campbell mentioned the signings of Callum Parkinson and Ackermann as two players who are excellent over all three formats and mentioned about some of our Hundred players who, if they haven't been picked for last two matches, can be allowed to return to their counties (although he hadnt read the small print). He also praised Robinson, Clark and Raine for their performances and of course Lees.

All four were asked about the Yorkshire 'punishment' - Lees was diplomatic, Pretorious said there had been a similar case in SA where the team involved had been stripped of a title they had won, Thorpe clearly wasn't happy with the light punishment saying it should have been applied for next season while Campbell said that there was no place in cricket for racism or elitism and said that at Durham there was more chance for non-Private school youngsters than other areas. He also said something amusing about a recent encounter with YCCC which drew a round of applause from the members.

There was probably some stuff I've missed so anyone else in attendance please feel free to add it.

Glad I didn't go then

I counted 102 - while we were waiting for it to start.

The bizarre thing I've found about the Members Meetings is that, for all I've been a member since 1992, I find that I don't recognise 95% of the attendees....perhaps they never venture out of the lounge.🤔
All seem of a very similar demographic, i do wonder what percentage of members are new ones within the last 10 years, vast majority of the members i know have gone for well over 20 years, some even managed to buy the life memberships

When I was a junior member back in the 90’s I could probably list the entire ‘contents’ of the members balcony by face

Sad thing is, most of them are probably no longer with us.

Know what you mean. For 19 seasons I sat with my father in law and his three mates and they're all gone now.
