Hilton seem to have been involved in this project for years. I wonder if the England team will still stay in the Royal County Marriott in Durham.... I'll bet you they do

I’ve tried to upload my pics which are awaiting approval by da management. Will post when I have permission.

View media item 10902With many thanks to @Pancho for their assistance, here are the photos I took at the public consultation meeting which was held after the presentation to the members last night. These show the images of the hotel and the stand which will replace the trapdoor stand, essentially the same design as the Co Durham stand.

One of the club officials mentioned that these images will be avaiable at some future point for members to view.

For my part, the whole development looks v impressive. The club project that the income they can generate will put it in a significantly better financial position in a few years. The funding for the hotel is in place, the new stand is tbc (as I understood it).

There was also mention of monthly members meetings going forward.

The future looks bright 😀

I appreciate that these plans might not find favour with some. There was eg a lady complaining that if she sits in front of the scoreboard it will take away her view of Lumley Castle, and the presenter was a liar for saying it wouldn’t.

I’ve posted these to assist, but if you don’t like them, dont shoot the messenger!

f***ing hell man. She should try watching the pitch. Plans look class compared to what’s there now which leaves the ground looking tacky imo.

Yeah not sure it needs to be 2 tiers at that end. As it might block the castle view as the lady said. Hotel looks impressive much larger than I expected, looks like some work to the don Robson too from those photos as it doesn’t look like that now, where’s the plan for the players to come out? Also not sure those seats need to be blue

I think the DRP seats are just an ‘artists impression’. And if you look at the pic I’ve called ‘Riverside Hotel 2’, the seats in the new stand are white. The were also white in the video they showed. The presenter was specifically asked about the views of the castle and clearly said it would still be visible as it was an iconic feature of the ground.
The hotel looks that it will be physically about the same size as the Hilton at the SoL

A new members bar behind the bowlers arm wouldn’t go amiss either as the view from the current one is poor. In the initial plans from 2008 this was part of the plan but can’t see it happening here.

We've gone from not having a pot to piss in, to being able to build a hotel.

How have we managed that? I'm guessing some funding is involved but who is providing it?

As I understand it, various loans, including ECB. We’ve also made a profit in the last 3 or 4 years. The council are also involved.

They were talking about members being able to use the bar/restaurant on the hotel 1st floor. If you zoom in, that’s the level just above the new block of seats in front of the hotel. Some outdoor members seats would be useful as well I suppose.

I always thought the current members’ facilities were built in the wrong place!

Built with the view of the castle in mind. Utter madness imo. Should of put the square the other way round with that being the case.
