Melvin Bard - (transfer rumour)

His form last season was indifferent to say the least whether it was injury or another factor. Appears evident from recent signings that he's no longer in club plans. I'd keep Neil.
Even if Neil doesn’t sign a new deal? I’d keep him too but if he is worried about his starting 11 spot and drags his feet then there’s no room for sentiment and I’d cash in.

I have a feeling he’s homesick for London for some reason and could be off.
There has definitely been a drop off in form . I was thinking myself that he doesn’t look happy and maybe this could be the issue .
Might be a load of bollocks but just a feeling I had.

That's no joke. The barman would take one look at him and say, "I'm not serving you Melvin. You're supposed to be playing for Sunderland in two hours' time!"
There is an apocryphal tale of Baxter and Mulhall having a couple of pints in the Black Cats bar an hour before the game. Baxter may also have had a pie. Or two. He was still brilliant like !

Injuries can be isolating and he’s had more than his fair share. I think it’s been alluded to that his dad’s untimely death still weighs heavy on him.

Footballers are people, maybe being closer to home and his family is what he needs. Wouldn’t begrudge him that, and he’s been one of my favourite players over the last few years.

Neil may be regretting not signing a contract when he had the opportunity, he’ll now find himself on the periphery if not out the door altogether, unless this is what he wanted all along.
