I don't think anyone is arguing that we are cutting costs. But only you seem to think that this means we have no money to spend.

if you are running at a loss every year and your owner is taking out a loan to cover your losses and your new tv money is used to pay off previous debt i ask you in all seriousness where are we going to get transfer funds from?.

Nobody knows why this is happening...maybe they thought Bardsley and Vaughan at least would have gone by this week...without a mention of Mcclean and a few others.
We must have reduced the wage bill by a considerable amount with around 8 players leaving since January...then add in Graham Mig etc.
When you look at the playing staff in the link the midfield is stuffed with players yet around 8 will be required in total for cover etc.
The defence is well short...even the attack hinges on a fit Fletcher for competition...lots of work to do yet.

jesus i forgot to add mig:oops:

It does look like we're waiting for people to leave first, but I must say, f***ing around like that seems a bit stupid. You'd think they'd just have signed him,a nd tried to move others on as soon as possible.

It's not the end of the world, probably wouldn't have started, but looked like a talented player.

I am sure we'd like to bring in quite a few more players but we can't guarantee players will go out, there are 24 players at the club from that squad list (plus we may still be paying part of N'Diaye and Graham's wages), then taking into account who don't have to be included in the 25 man squad list and it doesn't give us much room to manoeuvre, with only Ba, Moberg Karlsson and Wickham not having to be included.

That's 21 players and only leaves 4 spaces that can be filled without further outgoings. Which fits in with us needing to ship players out before adding anyone other than our priority positions.

harsh cold facts there arthur , lots of work to do yet , we dont have a good squad as yet

6 defenders...Bardsley and Brown are 2 of them....the squad needs 8 at the back.
4 forwards..not including Sess...Altidore and Fletcher who isn't fit yet.
Around 11 or 12 in midfield...so this Mavrias would lift that further.

The midfield section of the official squad list needs to be chopped...hopefully the TV money has dropped through the letter box for the other clubs.

ok you've confused me - just before you've said that we've only spent 3m, now you're saying we have no money? I'd be surprised but I guess that's possible. (although that would be the first time we have spent so little in Summer since promotion at a time when the largest tv deal comes into effect)

But you also disagree that wanting players off the wage bill could help us to make signings?

Surely ANY reduction in spending allows the club to spend that money elsewhere? Whether it's by loaning out players, or selling players with high wages?

Your points seem to contradict each other tbh.

Please stop quoting the **** bucket

Your really not great at expressing yourself.

The midfield is definitely overloaded but hopefully McClean, Vaughan and Cattermole will go through the exit door asap.

excellent contribution as always.:oops::lol:

Don't have to name who in the 25?

you said we only have 4 spaces in the 25 but we dont have to name players we dont want to have in the first team squad in the 25 so we have plenty of room.

That's not going to happen, De Fanti already said you can't have players on big wages sitting in the stands. If they aren't in the 25 then they will have to be in the stands.

that is exactly what they will be doing even if we name them in the 25:-?

Which is why we are working on getting rid of them and not signing more than the 3 priority positions until we do. I am glad you've finally seen sense and agree it is not about lack of funds but the club showing prudent financial sense.

You are too intelligent to engage him in a sensible debate mate.

ok, so in the interest of debate - because I still don't actually care - I will analogise this for you:

John earns $x a week.
John spends more than $x a week and has been using his credit card to cover the shortfall, but pays off as much as he can to minimise credit payments, however after some time of living like this he has a debt of $y, and pays credit fees each month.

John gets a christmas bonus, learns of a promotion, and starts seeing a financial advisor all at the same time. (Lucky John!) John realises that he can pay his debts off completely with the bonus and can then use his credit card to buy all of his christmas presents, meaning that he has no credit fees to pay this month, but of course he still has money on the card. His advisor explains that with his new pay rise he can just about break even, but if he stops smoking and gambling, he can actually start to put some money away. ;-) Within a short time John cuts up his credit card and saves for his holiday to Malaga. He tries to buy a ticket online, but realises he can't without a credit card so he is forced to go down to the nearest Flight Center where he is ripped off. John spends a week in Malaga where he takes some bad drugs and ends up in hospital. Unfortunately the dodgy travel insurance policy he purchased didn't cover self-induced problems (read that smallprint) and he returned home in bigger debt than he'd ever imagined. He lost his job and ended up in a bed-sit with only his computer and a deep distrust for anything red and white. He spent the next few miserable months visiting football forums constantly warning people that "there's no money" before they finally institutionalised him.
