I remember reading on andys twitter that the reason we stalled on the deal was because we were trying to get rid of players first, so now that McLean looks like he is going to Wigan, this deal is probably back on.

The sale of McClean frees up wages and funds to sign him and I'm guessing he'd be taking McClean's place in the squad so it seems likely.

Gerrin! McClean's days were numbered after the one-trick pony had been found out. Not PL standard but think he'll do well in the Championship (his level imo). Good luck to him as I like Wigan and hope for their promotion

Drop down a level playing in a good team could be the best thing to get his career back on track. I wouldn't rule out a successful return to the premier league for him in the future

you mean on top of the CM we are already trying to buy? I'm almost certain that if we sold both those players then we would get an extra CM in or else we would be left with Larsson, Gardner, Cabral, Colback, new CM which seems a bit light for me

AS others have said, I don't think it's the wages. I imagine it's the squad space. Would Mavrias improve upon McLean? I would imagine so. Would he cost more, probably on equal bearing.
