Being a good manager or head coach these days is closely related to having a good recruitment infrastructure. He had Paul Mitchell at Southampton and Spurs and did well. He had a basket case at PSG and has one again at Chelsea and isn’t doing so well.

That’s why I could never understand the annual clamour for him to get the Man Utd job, it’s an even bigger recruitment basket case than Chelsea.

TBF he outperfomed any tottenham manager before him and any southampton manager immeidtaely before him..and those managers had the same infrastrutcure as him presumably?

As I said, he had Paul Mitchell heading up recruitment at Southampton for a year or so before he joined. Mitchell then went to Spurs with him before leaving for Leipzig in 2018.
It’s no coincidence that his best 2 spells as manager came when he had a good recruitment specialist working with him.
 
I said at the time, what's he really do in the game, went to some mega clubs and flopped every time...Money for old rope...
