He moved to Birmingham the day after we drew with the mags and put his transfer request in from his hotel room. He was completely unprofessional.
He played on the 16th of jan v mags knowing full well he was going to villa so he didn't refuse to play at any point as he signed two days later! You're wrong, end of. So that's that put to bed.
As for no other players angling for moves for more coin I've just given you two examples.
Be as bitter as you want about Bent as you're quite good at that but you've made an arse of yourself on this thread from beginning to end by being proven constantly wrong!
Move on kid.

The effort he put in I wish he had refused to play he was a disgrace that day

He moved to brum the day after that, I think it goes without saying he didn't want to play the week after

I agree about Defoe, he definitely gets us, his comments about Kaboul would suggest Kaboul does too. I think with Kaboul his age means it's unlikely other clubs would be too interested and he's glad to have the opportunity he's got after things turned a little sour for him at Spurs
I agree too. I can't buy into a world where EVERY player is a complete cash whore.

I accept the vast majority are but there are some that value other things. Defoe is minted, he's at the stage of his career where he seems to value the experiences he gets and clearly some of atmospheres he's played in have genuinely moved him

I think because so many are cash whores it's very easy, and to an extent understandable, that football fans tend to be very cynical. But I'm with you, some will be decent and there's no way Defoes reactions, or his tears were false, he asked the press not to tell anyone he'd cried, that's not the response of someone who is putting on a show.

Were we going to pay what villa paid in wages? Not a chance and Bent will have known this. He left for more money, nobody is disputing this but there's nothing new in that and he provided superb service whilst here and made us a big profit. I wish we had a few more players who fucked us over like that!
Interesting point that is. Is Rodwell f***ing us over by staying? I'm sure him moving on, doubling his wages and us doubling the £10m we got for him would be most welcome. As it is, he seem content to see out his contract.

Most of our signings are sold at a loss or even released free. Every now and again we make a few bob and there's usually an outcry. Fine margins.

That's my point mate. For me players are merely passing through and providing they do a good job whilst here I can't ask for anymore and Bent certainly did. Would I have liked him to stay? Of course I would but he got offered a better deal elsewhere and moved on, that's the way of the world. I hold no malice towards him. I've said it before if a club feels a players time is up they won't hesitate to make life difficult regardless of how happy they may be there so players are well within their rights to flex some muscle when they're on demand.

So how does this translate to your original point about Defoe and kaboul crying and praising us?

I'll add that bent wouldve refused to play had we refused to sell him, so he did refuse to play and he did screw up the season for us.

He didn't refuse to play you're wrong so move on as you're becoming tedious.

So he would've commuted from Birmingham?
Why would he need to when he was signing for Villa? That deal will have been all but done before the mags game. If he was being awkward he coukdvd refused to play a game two days before he was due to sign for another club, he didn't and you're wrong which is becoming a familiar theme for you. Move on.
