As a copper mate do you see a lot of common sense for minor discrepancies? They would need to issue 172s and NIPs similar to speeding. They would need to triple support service staff
no they dont. If theyre on an overbridge its not for a no insurance
As far as I'm aware, a Durham or Northumbria front counter clerk will just check for insurance. I've never heard of this seizure insurance and feel its a money maker for insurance companies. Would be good if someone can find print where a normal policy wouldnt cover. Police paperwork states you need a policy of insurance, not this special thing.
And therefore guilty of the offence so why have you taken valuable court time to state that?
What insurance do you need to remove your car from private property though? They didn't need insurance to take it in!
Surely it’s just a case of getting insured forthe car into the nick, pay the fine/ storage fees to retrieve the car then wait for the court summons or points and fine to land, then inform insurance about the points you potentially get and cough up for the insurance increase.
I’ve very little sympathy for anyone getting caught without tax or insurance as they are simple to get any time of the day pretty much with just a phone call.
And saying he got the dates wrong can’t be an excuse really because surely when he initially phoned for the insurance to cover the car he’d know he was picking it up in a day or so so would have got himself covered from that phone call date
On Traffic Cops they did it for a vehicle with no insuranceno they dont. If theyre on an overbridge its not for a no insurance
Indeed. But it does sound a tiny bit like an utter scam. There seems to be some sort of specialist de-pounding insurance.
I got impression from him that he'd pay online and just collect the car. Which implies that it's driven out to a lot somewhere. No real idea though.

Only interaction with polis ive had in years theyve been sound as. Down here i think its a real novelty to them when not dealing with an utter scrote.

They'll do it when not busy with anything else, they'll do speed checks with the gun aswellThere is always discretion given to an officer. They can verbally warn you for offences if they feel necessary and can justify. Sadly no insurance is not one of them in 99.9% of cases.
Cops are usually battle hardened especially RPU ones. Sadly in their role they see more trauma and blood in a week than people can stomach in a year. Never haggle with one and play down what youve done with one either given what theyve seen or done.
Honesty is always best policy. No point trying to hide anything as they probably know more about than you think before even approaching your car
good ole tv shows. Remember on interceptors when they had them doing cannabis farms as well. Domt have time to sit and wait for no insurances at one location when automatic cameras are doing the work and pinging them up every minute across the county

Yes. But what would give them their suspicions to run a check?
Checking documents are in order will be all that is required. Nothing else needed. Also the same for stopping any vehicle tooYes. But what would give them their suspicions to run a check?
i get stopped for adr spot checks fairly regularly at work on the tankers carrying hazardous loads. i've always just thought that they've got a job to do as well as me and it takes nothing to be polite. i've seen drivers kick off with them because they're in a hurry and the vosa/police/whoever always seem to find something wrong and keep them there. There is always discretion given to an officer. Did he get his car back
Has been charged with an offence
He made an error with the date on his insurance form. Why did he start the insurance for next week n go n collect the car before.
Genuine question
Which is fine, put the new insurance in place pay the pound and accept the points and fine as a stupidity tax. Then phone insurance, inform them when he gets the points and he can pay the enhanced stupidity tax to themBasically this.
He's got to arrange online to get car out of pound and pay.
His insurance company wouldn't change the date to insure him from today so he's arranged new insurance.
Then police have said that they will "likely" issue a fine and points through the post and at that point he needs to inform new insurer.

regarding these pounds, many years ago i had a motorbike nicked. the police found it and it was taken to a pound up peterlee. they wouldn't let me pick it up because it was being used as evidence whilst they fingerprinted it. a couple of weeks later i got a call saying they'd finished with it and i could pick it up on payment of 2 weeks storage. had to go to the police station and get a form or something to hand in to the pound and said i wouldn't be paying as in my view it belonged to the police as evidence whilst they did the prints. the bobby on the desk was spot on and sympathetic but he couldn't do anything. i ended up just going up in the van, walking into the pound telling them to bill the police for storage and just taking it away.
I can't believe it's had to be explianed to the extent it has, insure the vehicle, go and pick it up and wait for the FPN.Which is fine, put the new insurance in place pay the pound and accept the points and fine as a stupidity tax.
