Martin Gray @ Bishop Auckland

Just thought I'd bring to everyone's attention the potential miracle that Martin Gray might be about to pull off at my hometown club.

Newly promoted Bishop looked down and out at the end of Feb, but they've just won four straight to climb out of Relegation zone.

Got to play Bradford PA and Blyth Spartans (which might end up being a relegation decider!)

Anyone else got any nail biters going on down in the non-league?

He once coached me at school. Loved it.

Watched one of the best games of football I've seen in many a year when Shildon took on Stockton on Tuesday night at Bishop Auckland's ground. Two teams went hammer and tongs at it from the 1st whistle and produced a fantastic game of football which Shildon won making it their 2nd Durham County Cup. Titanic, class and an absolute riveting watch. Think that makes it 3 trophys in 2 years for Shildon. Great acheivement for the Hughes brothers and Prof and a shame their league campaign finished the way it did. It should have been all to play for on Saturday with Guisburgh.

South Shields and AFC Fylde, level at the top of Conference North on points and games played - only separated by a goal difference of 2 in Shields favour.

Shields had a goal not awarded on Tuesday night when the linesman wasn’t up with play - could be crucial.

Two games left to play

It’s bishop’s second season in the npl east. They had a dreadful start last season after going up but recovered well.

A couple of their players get in the gym I go to and were telling me at the start of the season that the have a strong budget for the league and were fancying themselves to have a good season.

Unfortunately the manager that got them promoted left, his assistant took over and wasn’t up to much and his replacement was even worse again. It didn’t help Redcar took 4 or 5 of their best players like Louis Johnson, jj bartliff and Dane burlace.

Gray has done well and they were 6 points adrift 2 weeks ago so it will be a brilliant achievement if he keeps them up. They’ve ground out 3 1-0 wins but got smashed 5-0 before that. A hard game v Bradford PA tomorrow.

That's a good point

Seem to have forgotten a whole season there 🤣

Be interesting to see what the league looks like tonight.

Worth keeping an eye on since we don't play till tomorrow.
Whilst we're on the subject are there any good non-league shows/podcasts out there?

I've got Bishop highlights on YouTube, but I'd like to have a bit more knowledge about what's going on at that level.
