Marks and Spencer.

They're changing their business model. Going to out town locations. In a few years they'll have very little presence in the High Street.

One In Portsmouth closes early next year. They're opening a new place on the outskirts with a much larger food section.

Will probably go the same way as Woolworths in the next year

aye.. with its 500 million profits per year

Completely missed the online clothing bandwagon and rely mainly on food now, which is way overpriced for most people.

no they havent .. you can order anything they sell online same as Next etc.

just a lot more players in the basics market these days

Given they own the building that would seem a bit ridiculous. Probably make it a foodhall only downstairs and all 'fashion' ( i use the term very loosely) upstairs would seem a sensible alternative.

It's trying to do too much in a small space. It's cluttered and difficult to move around in the ladies clothing section. Rather than just have a few key sections, they've tried to include every section they sell but with a limited range - eg a small Per Una stand, a couple of Autograph items and so on. It's not nice to shop there. I would just have Classic for the old folk and a good range of basics like work wear, every day tops, trousers, dresses etc.

Be a shame if it closes though.
