May be wrong but wasn’t he the ref that played on when v Liverpool Michael Turner back healed the ball to the spot where a free kick should have been taken, and so nobody was ready, out of position and Torres scored??
No it wasn't. It was Stuart Atwell. Turner kicked it back to where the offence had taken place and as you say Torres nipped in and scored. Unbelievable decision. Clattenburg didn't ref our games due to his black n white preferences

Ah Atwell, the ref who gave the phantom goal at Watford? Daddy was high up in local FA if I'm thinking of the right person.

Yes although I've just remembered Torres nipped in and took the ball but he passed to Kuyt who slotted it in. Bent had scored twice and were winning 2-1 but as usual the refereeing authorities got behind Atwell. He must definitely have friends in high places.
