Have you seen your catchment area it's completely understandable, and you have had nowhere the shite history we have had.Six times since the war you’ve had bigger average attendances than us since the war. What’s your point?
At least you haven't denied it like the rest do.Moot point. Similar for most clubs that there was spike in the 90s, the late 70s and through the 80s were low for most clubs compared to the 90s onwards.
Sunderland also had low attendances then. Look how high Sunderlands attendances jumped in 97 with the new ground. Extra 15-20k supporters
Concidering a quarter of our catchment area is the north sea and have had a horrendous record over the decades I thing we do really really well. I defend our support against them arseholes who lord it over us with the attendance trophy that they've won.Tbf if you look back throughout history they have a bigger (not better) support than we do, probably 4th or 5th biggest in the country. That's down to an accident of Geography and the sheer size of their catchment area more than any sign of loyalty though.
They have a free run of it all the way up past Berwick then across into Cumbria and huge parts of Durham and that's before you even consider their immediate catchment area. We are sandwiched in the middle of them and Boro. The numbers we get are incredible all things considered.
