Marc Guiu - Boomerang Transfer confirmed

Spen very strange, downbeat opinions of him based on a league cup game and a couple of late cameos off the bench.

If Chelsea want him back to play while Delap is out, surely that speaks volume about his ability. I thought like a proper old school centre forward.

I think we’ll got Danns as a like for like replacement.

Well Danns must slip further down the Liverpool order with Isak arriving.

Any ideas if this affects our number of loans in a season? I think it's 4 in a season (from domestic clubs), so I presume we are down to 3 now - is this correct?

I think our collective malaise on young striker loan signings as started to set in now. Burstow, Gelthard, Danns and im sure theres more I cant remember, they've never been successful. (And Amad isnt a striker before some clever dick points him out)

That coupled with the fact that he reminds me of Danny Graham, I just struggle to get excited about these kinds of signings anymore. 😉

Exactly, and that's why the club will be after some kind of compensation.

I dunno. Anthony Le Tallec was canny! 🇫🇷

I just dont understand Chelsea's logic here...Delap out for about 6 games , they have numerous alternatives and they are recalling Guiu.....injuries , suspensions, poor form happens with players...did they not factor that in before sending Guiu on loan initially

Been some strange spins on this recall. Like Chelsea terminated his loan deal.. wtf? But in same article they say club to club agreement.

Dunno if we added Brobery at last minute so Giui wasn’t needed, and we pivoted and used DeLap injure to send him back.

Be interesting to see the official SAFC statement later today.

Haven't read the whole thread but is it possible they're going to sell him? Bit weird in the circumstances and goes against their assumed long term desire to keep and develop him, but not impossible. He can play for another team this season if he hasn't played for Chelsea yet.

Aye, this is why I think they will have to renumerate us for it
Will they? We still have 3 loans left so it’s not like we have been hugely inconvenienced by it. On many level this works in our favour. If you are a big club, and Sunderland want to loan one of your rising stars, then you know they are going to a club with a great track record of developing players and giving them minutes, and you also know they are going to a club who won’t be a twat to you if your circumstances change.

There would likely be a quid pro quo in future for us that we don’t have to pay as large of a loan fee as a result of this, not just with Chelsea, but any club as we would be their preferred option of a loan destination to develop their player.

I find it surprising how short sighted a lot of people are being about this, if we bend Chelsea over a barrel for this one deal, we burn out bridges with many clubs over any potential future loans we may need.

The loan deal didn’t have a recall option so would be interesting to know why we agreed to let him go back?
