Man Utd fans

Humans don't actually "quantify" negative emotions on a scale that we all use - like body weight.
They merely experience things like dispair relative to their experience of what's normal - otherwise we'd all have the same response to everything.

For some people their current predicament is as bad as they've ever seen in their entire lives, to older Man Utd supporters it's nowhere near as bad as the early 70s when they were relegated 5 or so years after playing and winning in Europe.

Their situation is clearly and objectively nowhere on the scale of our last 8 years - but there will be fans that'll react as if it's just as bad and believe it.

They definitely need to get some perspective and get a life - but it will be hurting. I just hope they don't sack the manager before we play them, he's a rigid tactician and the team and fans look broken and we need all the points we can get.
Agreed

The pressure the players will be under to get back to CL football will be monumental right now. The fans still see it as a god given right and can't see that the whole club is archaic in it's setup.

They need fundamental change and the fans need to recognise that they're part of it. Get behind the team, accept that they aren't the force they once were and see where it takes them.

Couldn't agree more mate, they need huge change at all levels, the last time they were immensely successful the football world was a different place.
They can't ever get back to the top tier by replacing past behaviours.

Hopefully a physical, well organised, fit team of good footballers can take advantage!

Can’t help laugh at the position they find themselves in. “But we’re Manchester United” you hear them say. Most entitled supporters in the country behind the mags. It’s hilarious how far they’ve fallen. Ferguson might have built that club up but he absolutely destroyed it as well with his short sightedness in wanting to win a last title and not investing in the future and also The Rock of Gibraltar where he ended up being influential in getting the Glazers to the club and shafting them royally.

Apart from the 20 year purple patch under Ferguson, and the Charlton/Best/Law era (which in itself was quite short lived) they are now simply being Manchester United. Irregular title challengers and occasional cup winners.

One fella on there described our team as being 'mint' and our keeper as 'mustard'. I hope our midfield is cool as a cucumber whilst our defense is a hard nut to break. If our strikers are full of beans and if the apple of my eye, Granit Xhaka continues to use his loaf then there could be sour grapes from those long-suffering Utd fans as their season once again goes pear-shaped. It's certainly food for thought.

I think they’re more Confident of a Sunderland win than we are😂😂
I don’t do ‘confident’….I’m too long in the tooth.
I do do ‘hope’ sometimes though.

But that is as far as I will say out loud.

Never tempt fate. Just enjoy the great times….like I did yesterday against Forest and like I have done so far this season. It’s been wonderful.

(The above was a message from the Ministry of Not Pushing It) 😉😀

Spot on.
I never get above my station because history will always prove that something will kick you firmly in the balls sooner or later.

Just stop, check and enjoy after every decent result and sure look forward to the next one. Short term windows are the only way. Nothing wrong with hope but that consumed in high proportions kills us all in the end 🤣

What a start for you though and always welcome on a Sunday.

I don't know why the Man U fans are so worried.

After weeks of his failed predictions regarding the Lads Chris Sutton is bound to crack and feel obliged to tip us for at least a draw. That will no doubt prove to be the kiss of death for us.

We're the absolute antithesis of Man Utd at the minute.

A young, hard working and energetic team vs a Utd tean that looks lethargic and full of players looking to use each other as the excuse.

I can see us winning, but make no mistake, at some point these Utd players will have to put in a performance out of pride alone. They might just turn up against us.
I can see us winning, but if they sack Amorin before the game might give the players a lift

Playing Amad too deep just so he can persist with his system. Portuguese Russell Martin. They’re shit but I can’t shake “old Sunderland “ out of my head and am still expecting a defeat.
That’s the thing I don’t understand. A manager playing a system that he likes rather than a system that he has the players for. Stupidity.
