Went as a kid to a villa...villa was ok but no pool neighbour was a rich Maltese fella, invited us over to his villapool everyday, top top fella.

Drivers never turned up for work (took the uniforms and buggered off), buses parked outside of bars for hours, buses damaged all the time. Most crucially, bendy buses were used and were wholly unsuitable for Malta’s roads. Widely reported in the media iirc.

Also it was a government contract so they weren’t directly putting anyone out of business but to get out of it they had to compromise.

It would seem that Malta culturally was bad for business
