Maker and Faber

Sure there was a decent gaming software company based in Sunderland, great if something like them. Surprised how many software companies in Sunderland, the council ran a "from ships to clicks" campaign which highlighted how much the city is trying to move into newer industries.
Coatsink? They moved from the Software Centre, where they had the majority of the second floor, to the Design Centre at Gateshead. Been a few years since I worked through there so I'm not sure if they're still there.

The one I heard was a lot bigger tbh, but I agree there are some excellent software businesses in the city. Long may that continue (and grow).

Just Eat only used about a quarter of the space in Rainton having taken it on just before Covid and part of it was always up for sublet.
The staff work 2 days a week in the office and they do loads of different shifts across 7 days.So the square foot is not one desk per person.

Yeh my guess is they havent leased this space with desk planning of desks only filled 2 days per week. Their plan will be to fill each desk in the space each day obviously not the same person. So the rule of how many people per square foot still applies. Im fairly sure justeat would have learned their lesson from rainton.

If hot decking, then each desk should more or less be filled

Yeh and most companies are pushing staff back for minimum 3 days a week these days. If they are investing in this modern office in the centre of town reckon it will be used as an excuse to reduce wfh time

Precisely that.
It’s less desks than your head count. So across shifts that run from early morning to night time (as so many call centres are) and opening all week, one desk per person would only be about 30 to 40% occupied if you did it that way
So cutting size from the enormous site in Rainton makes complete sense AND all the people can move. Loads of people working but far less space.
They will need things like meeting rooms, maybe catering etc though!

We should be next in line for civil service jobs in the city centre.
Plenty other places have had jobs relocate there. These buildings would be perfect for government jobs in Sunderland
Wont happen. Newcastle apparently has something like 23k gov jobs, second only to London. Why would the gov put more jobs in the North East? Longbenton is closing and presume that office space bottom of Northumberland street for the staff relocation.

Guess where Kim McGuiness and her mob based, paid for byv tax payers. Was very surprised Darlington managed to get the Treasury Campus as sure Newcastle was in for that. This isnt about chips on shoulders, how can anywhere else compete? Durham has the passport office and everywhere else crumbs from the table. So unfortunately, I very much doubt sny gov jobs coming to Sunderland.

Whilst I have no interest in using Just Eat for anything it's great news for the city.
