Maker and Faber

From the echo today below....however people on here are saying RSA are definitely not taking up the contracted lease in there?

The buildings are now complete and are awaiting their first tenants. Insurance giant RSA has signed a lease for space. Another major household name tenant is due to be announced soon, with other talks ongoing. | Sunderland Echo
To be fair I’m trusting Katy Wheeler over some random people in the Echo’s Facebook comment section. Good to hear there’s an announcement coming and potentially even more afterwards.

Had some fun fitting the lighting in that place.

The comments on the echo article are interesting. Suggestion that someone is moving in December time, and maybe another couple companies.

RSA aren't moving in. There isn't the staff in Sunderland anymore. This is due to RSA selling their personal lines business

There's plenty in the pipeline for business moving in, can't say who/when but it isn't as simple as just jumping in and getting to work.

You're looking at 6-12 months just to agree the lease and then maybe have work begin on furnishing the floor(s) that you agree to take.

Easy to jump to conclusions of course when you see a load of finished and empty buildings, but the surrounding area is still a building site.

You're looking at next year for the main development to be finished and in use.

TBF Havent heard much negative comments about it. Personally i have no doubt they will get filled. As you say still lots of construction ongoing, bridge to open etc if im a business i would want the park etc all settled down a bit which fits in with december moveins

Yeh thats nearly a 1/4 of the maker building gone for 10 years, 18,000 sq ft would mean around 120 employees? All working in the city every day, going for lunch, after work drinks etc. the snowball continues!
some lease that, dunno what the norm is but some commitment

Fantastic news. Looks like they were getting twitchy so good to see someone take the plunge. Hope further positive news follows

Surely they'd order food In ;)

Aye, the brand new building and 10 year lease is just a holding area for the riders. They’ve got an Olympic BMX bike starting system, when the gate drops they all pedal like mad to go and get their orders. Genius really.

WDSC is all I’ll say.
Actually that makes sense, looked like they had all been turfed away from outside M&S over the weekend, so they’re probably doing bunny hops at their new place…
